Chapter 3

3

After I went to the law firm to finalize the division of our company's equity and property, I suddenly got a text from Sydney.

"Chase, I'm at the office. I need to talk to you about something. Come here right now."

I glanced at the message, guessing that Sydney had received the lawyer's letter and wanted to clear things up. I simply grabbed a cab and headed straight there.

But the moment I reached the company lobby, I saw Declan waiting there with a few younger employees.

Those young guys burst into laughter the second they saw me, pointing at me until tears streamed down their faces.

"Declan, you were totally right. This useless guy Chase is really just a pathetic simp."

"As soon as Ms. Preston rings her bell, he comes running over like a lapdog."

The corners of Declan's mouth curled up. He stared at me with a wicked, suppressed smirk.

"Chase, buddy, I'm really sorry. These guys don't know how to watch their mouths. Don't take it to heart."

"We were just playing a little game just now, we really didn't mean anything by it."

Playing a game?

I sneered. Without a single word of nonsense, I grabbed those young punks by their collars and slapped them hard across the face, left and right.

After delivering a flurry of slaps, I tossed them onto the floor like a pile of garbage. I looked at them coldly.

"You guys are the new hires, right? Pack up your desks and get the hell out of my company."

They were all completely stunned. Declan also stared at me in shock, failing to process what just happened.

I hadn't shown my face around here in years. These arrogant fools had completely forgotten that I was still the largest shareholder of this company.

For bottom-feeders like them, firing them only took a single sentence from me.

A flash of joy crossed Declan's eyes, and then he acted as if he had suffered a massive injustice.

"Mr. Shareholder, we were only playing a game and making a joke. You can't just use your power to bully people like this."

"If you do this, what will the other employees think? How will everyone view the company? Aren't you just throwing Ms. Preston under the bus?"

"Even if I have to risk losing my own job today, I have to stop you from doing this. You are completely smearing the company's reputation!"

Oh, so the performance had already started.

I threw a casual glance at him and spoke up.

"Sure, then you can go straight to HR, collect your paycheck for today, and get the hell out too."

He actually tried to play this moral kidnapping game with me? Using high-sounding words to pressure me and force me to yield?

I could only say he was way too naive.

I would gladly make his wish come true in a heartbeat!

That's everything available right now.
