Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Before Chantel was born, all the love in the house belonged to me.
That was the happiest time of my life.
So when Mom asked if I wanted a baby sister, I agreed happily.
I had no idea that her birth would mark the beginning of my lifelong nightmare.
When Chantel was just a toddler learning to walk, she bumped her forehead against a rock and wailed.
Mom rushed out, tearing up at the sight of the small bruise on her forehead.
I stood beside them in a panic, holding an ice pack to help soothe her pain.
Before I could place it on her head, Chantel pointed a tiny finger at me and whimpered.
"Camille... pushed me..."
That day, my parents locked me in the basement without dinner.
I still remember the crushing disappointment in their eyes.
"She is so little, and you hit her? Camille, you disgust us! You share the same blood!"
I screamed and cried until my voice went hoarse, but no one listened.
I begged Chantel to tell the truth, but she ran crying into Mom's arms.
"Camille wants to hit me again!"
Hidden in Mom's embrace, Chantel poked her tongue out at me in victory.
From that day on, whenever Chantel had a scratch or a bruise, it was always my fault.
Gradually, I became an outcast in my own home.
During family outings, they dined in upscale steak houses while I chewed dry bread alone at home.
I had to endure Chantel's constant taunts and sabotage.
Whenever I tried to stand up for myself, Mom would slap me across the face.
"You're the older sister! Why can't you yield to her? Why are you so selfish?"
I endured everything until the day Chantel spiked my drink, knocked me out, and hauled me to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town.
That was when pure despair consumed me.
"What is wrong with you?" I cried out. "I don't threaten your place in the family anymore! Why are you doing this?"
Chantel dropped her innocent mask and looked down at me with pure malice.
"My sweet sister, you are hopelessly naive. If you stay alive, you'll inherit half of the estate when those two old fools die."
"If I go missing, Mom and Dad will never stop looking!" I pleaded, cold sweat pouring down my forehead. "You'll go to prison! Don't do something stupid!"
Chantel let out a mocking laugh and leaned down to whisper in my ear.
"Don't you get it yet? In this world, nobody gives a damn about you."
A sharp hunting knife plunged into my chest.
Warm blood sprayed across the concrete floor, blurring my vision.
Yet the agonizing physical pain couldn't compare to the heartbreak of being slaughtered by my sister and abandoned by my parents.
She stabbed me repeatedly like a maniac until my body was mutilated beyond recognition.
When Mom finally rushed to the scene and found both of us in a pool of blood, she stepped right over my dying body and pulled Chantel into her arms.
"Don't be scared, baby. Mom is here. Your wicked sister is a monster! How could she hurt you just to get attention?"
I caught a glimpse of Chantel's triumphant smile.
My body lay abandoned in the corner, just as I had been cast aside my entire life.
Mom, she was right about you. You really didn't care about me at all.
I smiled faintly as my final tear fell.
