Chapter 3
3.
"Soph?"
Zayden frowned, waving his hand in front of my face.
I snapped back to reality.
The boy’s eyes were clear, free from the gloom and hatred of my past life.
But I suddenly jumped up, putting distance between us.
"I... I have something to do. I can't make the game."
"You guys have fun."
I was afraid of Zayden.
Truly afraid.
The moment I got close to him, I couldn't stop trembling.
He paused, seemingly unused to me rejecting him for the first time.
After all, in our relationship, wasn't I always the one clinging to him?
He thought for a long time before speaking. "Wait, are you mad? Because I bought Luna something a few days ago and didn't get you anything?"
Mad?
I smiled bitterly.
What right did I have to be mad?
In my past life, although Zayden never said he loved me, he never said he loved Luna either.
But he always revolved around her.
I was just blind.
I held onto delusions.
I fought with Luna.
No wonder I died so miserably.
The bell rang at the perfect time.
If I remembered correctly, this was gym class.
Class One and Class Two had a football match.
Luna was already standing at the door of the next classroom.
Zayden ultimately didn't say anything else. He glanced at me, then turned and ran toward Luna, who was waiting at the door.
Watching their retreating figures side by side, I let out a long sigh of relief.
However, after being reborn, I didn't even have time to enjoy the sunshine.
Near the end of the school day, Mom called me to the hospital.
The reason was that Luna had "taken a turn" again.
She needed a transfusion.
Just like in my past life, as long as she needed it, I was her personal blood bank.
Actually, in the beginning, when Mom and Dad said Luna had a rare blood disease and needed frequent transfusions...
And that my blood type was a perfect match, I was actually glad.
Because I could save my sister.
I knew early on that Mom and Dad loved Luna more.
After all, she was their biological daughter.
That was understandable.
I just thought, if I was nicer to Luna, just a little nicer, Mom and Dad would be happy.
If they were happy, maybe they would love me again.
But Luna was too greedy.
She was always crying, always needing my blood.
It happened more and more often, until I couldn't handle it.
Especially when Zayden was around.
Like right now.
I took a taxi to New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Before being wheeled into the ward, Zayden hurriedly shoved a gift box into my hands.
That's everything available right now.
