Chapter 2 You Are Daydreaming

"You will beg me." The flippant voice seemed to come straight from hell. In the next instant, Damon bit her lips and felt the tears that had, against her will, streamed down her face.

"Damn it!" he cursed. 'Am I forcing her?'

Damon braced his weight against the wall with one hand, and his fingers bit into her jaw and forced her head up. "Come on! Look at me!" he commanded in a harsh growl.

"You evil man! I want to nullify the contract!" The hand on her face gradually slackened and then moved away. Sheryl raised her head and looked into his eyes, her heart feeling like it would beat right out of her chest.

Fortunately, there was no light around. She couldn't see his face clearly, and neither could he see hers.

Thus, he probably did not know that she was quaking with fear.

Two days ago, when Damon was still in Las Vegas, he received a call from his family, saying that his grandfather, Phil Tuoba, was on his deathbed. The old man wanted to see him for the last time.

However, he rushed to his grandfather's side only to see him playing poker with others, as healthy as before.

He was duped!

Tonight, they had arranged for a strange woman to come to his room.

Suddenly, a need to see the woman's face burned through him.

Damon pressed the light switch, but the room frustratingly remained dark because of faulty wiring.

"Who are you? What's your name? How did you get in?" Once again, he grasped Sheryl's chin and turned her face toward him as he asked his questions in a cold voice.

Sheryl thought of the elegant, noble woman before. The servants all called her Mrs. Tuoba, so she assumed that she was Damon's mother.

Cynthia Tuoba said to her, "Damon's grandpa has been in poor health, and we are worried about him. He needs a grandchild to cheer him up. However, that is not the point. The point is that my son stands to inherit everything of Tuoba family, so he needs a son to consolidate his position."

'Why did you come to me?' Sheryl asked.

"People like you shouldn't naively think that you can get anything from us just by giving birth to a baby. I hope that you can live up to my expectations and not let me down. I like you very much, Miss Shen. I've seen thousands of young women, and I think you're a good one."

This was Cynthia's explanation—unreasonable and unconvincing.

"Who are you? Answer my question!" Damon lost his patience.

Sheryl remembered that Cynthia had explicitly ordered her not to tell Damon her name.

However, he was standing so close to her, which gave her an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

This feeling was mixed with something fatal and bewitching.

"Do we know each other?" she asked in a faint voice, as if in a trance.

"Is that possible?" Damon lowered his head toward hers and gave a chuckle that was devoid of amusement, as if she told a bad joke. He turned and leaned against the door. "You must be daydreaming!"

Humiliation burned unpleasantly within her. Sheryl thought, 'Did he just laugh?

That must mean that he is not in a terrible mood.'

"Get out of here." Even in the dark, Damon's eyes seemed pitch black.

She marveled at the lightning-fast changes in his expression.

"I can sing a lullaby! Would you like to listen to it?" Sheryl suggested randomly in order to change the topic.

Squinting his eyes, Damon turned around, unbuttoned his shirt, and threw it on the floor. Then, he turned his head to face her again.

Sheryl wisely held her tongue.

Then, she heard the sound of water flowing from the shower.

Ten minutes passed.

He walked towards the bed, a white bath towel wrapped around his trim waist.

He stripped the towel and threw it on the floor. Then, he frowned upon realizing that there was a strange woman in his room.

Exhausted, Sheryl had collapsed against the door. Her eyelids drooped, and her body felt like dead weights.

Suddenly, she felt arms scoop her up, and the room was spinning around her. Then, her body landed on the soft silk covers.

"Ah!"

Then, a heavy body unexpectedly pressed her down into the mattress.
