Chapter 3

Thinking of this, I gritted my teeth and glanced at my scheming Aunt Kyla. Before my dad could say anything, I eagerly chimed in, "Really? Aunt Kyla! That's fantastic! Being a TV drama actress is like a dream part-time job for me!"

Aunt Kyla was momentarily taken aback by my enthusiasm, but then she smiled broadly. "Mabel, I'm glad you understand my intentions. Make sure you prepare well for tomorrow. I'll take you there myself."

I nodded with a smile and quickly poured a glass of wine for my dad. "Dad, don't worry. I'll earn money during the summer break, so you won't have to work so hard to support me."

My dad snorted, downed the wine in one gulp, and said nothing more.

That night, I picked up my phone and messaged my cousin Lisette on Whatsapp: "Lisette, I found a part-time job! But don't tell Aunt Kyla; she doesn't want me to tell you!"

"Hmph, I don't care about those servant jobs you do."

I smirked and quickly typed back: "Thanks to Aunt Kyla, I'm going to be the lead actress in a TV drama! Oh, and it's a good thing you didn't do well on your SATs. Otherwise, Aunt Kyla wouldn't have given me such a great opportunity."

Within three seconds, Lisette called me: "Mabel! I'm warning you! You can't go! You're just an orphan. How dare you be the lead actress? Is my mom out of her mind?"

I listened quietly to her rant without saying a word. When she finally paused, I pretended to be hurt and said, "I know you've always wanted to get into the entertainment industry. I even asked Aunt Kyla if you could come with me, but she said you didn't do well on your exams, so absolutely not... I need the money. I have no choice. I also think this opportunity suits you better."

As expected, Lisette, who lacked any sense, immediately said, "I'll give you money! I'll go instead of you tomorrow. Don't tell my mom, got it? Or else, I'll have your dad punish you severely!"

After hanging up, she actually transferred 1,000 yuan to me. I had to admit, Lisette was both wicked and foolish, but she had money.

The next day, Aunt Kyla dropped me off in front of the hotel. She touched my face, her eyes gleaming. "Mabel, do well. If you succeed, not only will your daily expenses be covered, but your tuition for four years will be a breeze!"

I swallowed my disgust and obediently lowered my head, agreeing. Once inside the hotel, I quickly ran to the bathroom on the first floor and found Lisette hiding there.

She pouted and frowned. "How dare you make me wait! Are you trying to die?"

Lisette had been thoroughly spoiled by Aunt Kyla. She looked down on classmates who studied hard and only dreamed of becoming an actress, a star. But Aunt Kyla, who had worked her way up from nothing, was adamantly against her daughter taking that path. The more Aunt Kyla opposed, the more rebellious Lisette became.

Thinking of the things she said after my death in my previous life, I closed my eyes tightly, then opened them slightly, my lips curling. "Lisette, Aunt Kyla said she gave the staff your photo. Just tell them you edited it. You must insist that you're me, or else they'll kick you out. If that happens, Aunt Kyla and my dad will punish me severely, and I won't dare help you again."

Lisette waved her hand impatiently. "Fine, stop whining."

She looked at herself in the mirror, smiling happily. "Hmph, my mom must be crazy. I'm much more suited to be an actress than you. You're just a worthless brat even your own dad despises. What dreams do you have? Acting?"

She glanced at me disdainfully. "Ha, you should just study hard, get a stable job earning 3,000 dollars a month after graduation, and marry some ugly guy."

"But me! I'm going to stand in the spotlight and be adored by millions."

I smiled and nodded in agreement. Yes, soon you'll be the "lead actress." The people your mom arranged are waiting for their "leading lady" in that room.

After Lisette left, I put on sunglasses and a mask from my bag, then tied up my long black hair. I watched as Lisette approached the man. He compared her to the photo on his phone, frowned, and after a brief conversation, led her upstairs.

I smirked and found a seat in a coffee shop with a view of the hotel entrance, waiting quietly. In my previous life, I had died silently.

If Lisette died this time, Aunt Kyla, that vicious woman, would never let those people go. After all, she had injured herself giving birth, and Lisette was her only child.

Thinking about the possible upcoming scenes, I couldn't help but feel a bit excited...
