Chapter 3
3.
When I stepped into the living room with my luggage, Victoria was teasing Dylan on the sofa.
"Want to go for another round? You looked like you wanted more..."
Hearing my footsteps, Dylan gently pushed her shoulder.
"Victoria, Chase is right there!"
Victoria turned around with an irritated frown, but when she saw my suitcase, her expression darkened.
"Chase, what kind of pathetic game are you playing now?"
I walked up to her and said calmly, "I'm moving out so I don't get in your way."
Victoria erupted in fury.
She grabbed a ceramic coffee mug from the table and hurled it straight at my forehead.
"How dare you!" she screamed.
"Your parents sold you out for chump change! The Foster family gave you a home, and this is how you repay us, you ungrateful bastard?"
"I'm telling you right now―without my permission, you won't take a single step out of this house!"
Warm blood trickled down my forehead and dripped past my eye.
I honestly couldn't comprehend her rage.
She hated my guts, so why was she throwing a tantrum over me leaving?
Dylan tugged on her sleeve, putting on a gentle, concerned facade.
"Victoria, please don't be mad. Chase is probably just upset seeing me here. I'll leave so you two can talk."
Victoria caught his arm, her tone instantly softening.
"Don't mind him. He's just throwing a tantrum. If you leave, what am I supposed to do, hmm?"
As she spoke, her hand slipped boldly under Dylan's shirt.
They began making out right in front of me as if I didn't exist.
Victoria's breathing grew heavy as she started unbuttoning his pants.
Dylan squirmed slightly and whispered, "Let's go back to the bedroom! There are people watching!"
Victoria shot me a venomous look, muttered "Useless trash," and dragged Dylan into her room.
Before the door shut, Dylan glanced over his shoulder at me with pure triumph.
The second the lock clicked, I grabbed my bag and headed for the front door.
Two hulking bodyguards immediately blocked my path.
"Miss Foster ordered that you are not allowed to leave without her permission."
Just like that, I was forced back into my room under house arrest.
The next morning, Victoria knocked on my door, her face cold.
"Today is Dylan's first day as General Manager. You're going to the office to help him."
When I opened my mouth to refuse, she cut me off coldly.
"You know what happens to people who disobey me."
I lowered my gaze and whispered a quiet "Okay."
I didn't miss the flicker of resentment in Dylan's eyes behind her.
When I arrived at Foster Enterprises, I found all my personal belongings packed in a cardboard box outside the executive suite.
Victoria walked by and noticed a photo sitting on top of the box.
She frowned. "Where did you get this picture?"
It was a snapshot of Victoria back in high school.
"Grandpa Foster gave it to me," I lied smoothly.
Dylan picked up the frame and asked eagerly, "Can I get a copy of this?"
"You can just have that one," I replied indifferently.
Victoria's eyes flashed with shock.
In the past, I had guarded everything belonging to Victoria like sacred treasure.
Even a cheap pen she casually discarded would be kept safely in my drawer, let alone a photograph.
She used to mock me for being a pathetic, obsessive creep.
Now, I didn't want her belongings anymore.
And I certainly didn't want her.
That's everything available right now.
