After choosing to stay in this mission world for the female lead and my daughter, they began treating me like dirt without a shred of guilt.

They believed I had no way of ever leaving this place.

Even when I was doubled over in pain, Meredith―a renowned chief surgeon―refused to examine me, choosing instead to hook up with the male lead in her office.

I begged my daughter to call another doctor for me, but she slapped me across the face instead.

"Mom said you're just the hired help in this house. Who do you think you are, bossing me around?"

They both thought I was trapped here forever.

What they didn't know was that I still had one last chance to leave.

And I asked the System for one specific exit: to let me die by Meredith's own hands.

I wanted to make sure she would never forget me for the rest of her life.

Through the crack in the office door, I watched Meredith passionately kissing Wyatt, the destined male lead of this world.

My heart twisted with a mess of emotions.

There was rage, grief, and sheer disbelief.

What I couldn't understand was why she was doing this now, when years ago she had cried and begged me on her knees to stay in this world for her.

She had promised to love me fiercely and spend the rest of her life by my side.

Why turn around and do something so vile?

I simply couldn't wrap my head around it.

I pulled out my phone and dialed her number.

She finally broke the kiss to answer, her tone dripping with annoyance. "What do you want?"

I deliberately kept my voice low.

"My stomach is killing me. Can you come out and take a look at me?"

I wanted to see how she would react.

After all, I had spent ten agonizing years winning her heart. I refused to believe she had zero feelings left for me.

Reality slapped me hard.

Her voice turned ice-cold. "I'm busy. Can't you just see another doctor like everyone else? Always trying to cut the line through me―it's pathetic!"

With that, she hung up on me.

"Mommy only loves Uncle Wyatt anyway. It's totally normal for them to kiss."

My daughter, Chloe, giggled beside me.

I froze on the spot, the blood in my veins turning to ice.

"Who taught you to say that?"

She had a lollipop in her mouth, her chin raised with an arrogant smirk.

"Mommy told me. She said if it weren't for you, she'd already be with Uncle Wyatt."

Her words sent a bone-chilling shiver down my spine.

I never imagined Meredith would poison our daughter's mind with such toxic garbage.

Inside the office, Meredith wrapped her arms around Wyatt's neck and resumed making out with him.

Fury flared in my chest, and I wanted nothing more than to kick the door open and confront them.

Suddenly, a sharp, stabbing cramp ripped through my stomach.

The pain was so intense I could barely stay on my feet, cold sweat pouring down my forehead.

Right now, I needed painkillers from a doctor just to survive the agony.

Only then would I have the strength to deal with this betrayal.

I forced myself to stumble toward a bench and collapsed onto the seat.

Desperate, I pleaded with Chloe. "Chloe, sweetie, please go call a doctor for Daddy, okay?"

Smack!

Before the words could fully leave my mouth, a hard slap struck my cheek.

She looked down her nose at me with cruel contempt.

"Mommy said you're just the servant in our house. Who do you think you are, bossing me around?"

"Why don't you just drop dead? If you die, I can finally get a new daddy!"

I was completely stunned.

I never dreamed such venomous words could come from my own child.

I was her father!

To give her and Meredith a good life, I had broken my back on construction sites during the day.

At night, I delivered takeout until sunrise without a single complaint.

I truly believed they would appreciate my sacrifices and treat me with love.

Only now did I realize they had forgotten every single ounce of kindness I ever gave them.
