Chapter 3

I had planned to leave quietly.

But the next morning, Landon called, insisting I accompany him to the company's five-year anniversary gala.

We had built the company together. It was filled with my blood and sweat.

Realizing this was my final day, I didn't refuse.

At the banquet, a group of women surrounded me, praising Landon's loyalty.

"I heard you and Mr. Blackwood were childhood sweethearts. He's so devoted to you."

"It's true. Mrs. Blackwood is the only woman he's ever loved for over a decade."

Sierra, being an employee, was also there.

She sat nearby, her eyes turning red with resentment as she listened.

"Mr. Blackwood must buy you so many gifts," Sierra chimed in, touching a necklace on her throat.

"My boyfriend gave me this 'Blue Star' diamond. It's a limited edition, only two in the world."

The women gasped. "That necklace is worth a fortune! Your boyfriend must really adore you."

Sierra beamed with pride. "He does. We're getting married soon..."

I couldn't stand another word. I got up to go to the restroom.

Halfway there, Sierra blocked my path.

She crossed her arms and looked me up and down with disdain.

"Landon said I looked like you. I don't see it. I'm clearly younger and prettier."

Seeing my lack of reaction, she stroked her belly and tilted her chin.

"Landon promised to take me to the Maldives to wait for the birth. He wants to be there."

She stared at me, waiting for the explosion.

She wanted to see me broken, weeping, and losing my mind.

To her disappointment, I remained perfectly calm.

"And?" I asked simply.

Sierra's eyes turned vicious. "The one who isn't loved is the real intruder."

"Landon doesn't love you anymore. Why won't you just divorce him?"

I let out a small, dry laugh.

"If you want me to divorce him, you're barking up the wrong tree."

"If you can actually get Landon to agree to a divorce, I'd actually thank you."

Sierra stood there, stunned into silence.
