My fiancé, Silas Thorne, the most brilliant designer of the century, finally promised to propose to me on the day he won the Global Fashion Award.

I braved a literal hurricane to rush to his victory banquet.

But when I arrived, I saw him passionately kissing his assistant, Maisie Sinclair, in front of the flashing cameras.

Then, they held up a marriage certificate for the whole world to see.

Silas grabbed the microphone and spoke with a voice full of emotion. "Honey, thank you for all your hard work. Together, we will lead the fashion world into a new era!"

My colleagues all turned to look at me, expecting me to scream or cause a scene.

Instead, I just smiled and was the first one to clap my hands.

"Bravo! I wish you two a long life together. You truly deserve each other!"

The entire room went dead silent.

After the ceremony, Silas immediately dragged me into a corner to explain himself.

"Lyra, Maisie stayed up with me for six months to prepare for this competition. Her mother is dying of cancer, and her only wish was to see her daughter married. Are you really going to be this petty?"

"As soon as the press dies down, I'll get a divorce. I'll give you the most lavish wedding anyone has ever seen, okay?"

I didn't say a word. I just turned around and walked away.

I pulled out my phone and dialed my father's number.

"Dad, our ten-year bet is over. I lost. I'm coming home to take over the family empire."
