Chapter 3

3.

Jada saw right through her pathetic, hypocritical act. Her temper, which she had been barely suppressing, ignited.

She couldn’t hold back any longer. She lunged forward, delivered a sharp slap to Celeste’s face, and grabbed her hair with a violent yank.

As Celeste let out a shrill scream, Jada dragged her off the hospital bed.

“You little bitch, I’ve been wanting to deal with you for a long time. I only held back for Elara’s sake. Now that Elara is missing because of you, you’re still acting all passive-aggressive!”

“I’ll kill you today, I swear…”

Just as Jada straddled Celeste, ready to settle the score, a powerful force pulled her away and slammed her against the cold, hard wall.

Jada crashed to the floor. Her forehead swelled, and her knees were scraped, blood trickling down.

I looked at the culprit. Silas was busy helping Celeste up, carefully checking her for injuries.

“Celeste, are you hurt anywhere?”

He spoke in a gentle whisper, terrified of her being slightly inconvenienced.

I was stunned by Silas’s double standard. I rushed to Jada’s side, desperate to help her up, but my hands passed right through her shoulders. I was powerless.

Silas finally looked over at Jada, his voice devoid of emotion but laced with a clear threat.

“What? That coward Elara wants to stir up trouble but is afraid I’ll be mad, so she sent you to scream at me?”

“Go back and tell her, if she wants to stay in my good graces, she better crawl back here, apologize to Celeste on her knees, and find that killer and take him to the police station.”

“Otherwise, I’m cutting off all medical funding for her brother’s VIP ward immediately! You hear me?”

Jada’s nails dug into her palms until they bled, her knuckles white. She wished she could tear these two arrogant, hypocritical monsters to shreds.

Over the years, only she knew how much I had sacrificed for Silas, humbling myself into the dust for his sake.

Watching this now made it even more painful for her.

In reality, my heart hadn’t stopped pounding since I died and arrived by Silas’s side.

I never imagined Silas could be this ruthless, determined to push me to my death.

Just then, Jada saw a news report on her phone about the killer striking again. Seeing the trails of blood in the alley, she began to tremble uncontrollably.

“Silas, look! Elara might really be in danger! They found blood in that alley! The police are investigating it right now. I beg you, please, try to find her! Maybe she’s still alive!”

Watching Jada’s desperate pleading, I couldn’t help but choke up.

It’s no use, Jada. I’m dead. My body was turned into a specimen by that monster…

Silas looked at the news report, his arrogant expression showing a slight crack of doubt.

Sensing his emotional fluctuation, Celeste immediately clutched her chest, pretending to be in pain, successfully pulling his attention back to her.

Jada stood up, trying to say more, but Silas coldly interrupted.

“Enough! You two teamed up to play this game to trick me, didn’t you? What a lot of effort.”

“But I’m not buying it! Go back and tell Elara, if she doesn’t show up, the next time she sees me will be at the divorce court!”

He called security to drag Jada out without a hint of mercy.

Injured and exhausted, she could only glare at Silas with pure hatred.

“You selfish, blind man. You will regret this. Even if you get down on your knees and beg for forgiveness later, it’ll be too late!”

“If anything happened to Elara, I will not let you get away with this!”

Watching Jada being dragged away, I felt that the years I spent pouring my heart out were just wasted on a stray dog.

That's everything available right now.
