Chapter 3 Silas' POV
The day before yesterday
I pounded my fists on the table in frustration. "What the fuck is he messing up this time? Why the fuck is he trying to create another conflict with a pack? What is his fucking problem?"
"He asserts that someone has threatened to injure his partner and seize control of his pack."
I rolled my eyes in exasperation as I glanced at Michael, who was serving as my beta. It wasn't the first time this particular alpha had made these kinds of accusations, and by this point, I was weary of hearing about him unjustly accusing other packs. I was sick of hearing about him.
"Again? I've heard enough about this person; it's almost as if he's trying to aggravate me."
" Silas, I believe that you should sneak up on him. Many people are unhappy with how he leads his pack and that he wants to start a war with everyone."
I made a deep growling sound. "I no longer have any tolerance for him. I believe it is about time that we pay him a short visit. Gather everyone together, explain to Grey that he will be in command while we are gone, and choose twelve warriors to accompany us; however, you should leave the highest-ranked ones home."
Michael greeted me with a sarcastic salute. "You got it, boss." And with that, he turned on his heels, whirled around, and marched out the door.
I groaned and leaned back in my chair before continuing. It seemed like we were in for some challenging days ahead.
*At present, just before where we left off in the last section*
When we finally arrived in the Willow pack area, we had been traveling for around one hour in the automobile. Nobody is watching across the border. Irresponsible.
Tony, the troubled alpha of this pack, was unaware of the torment he would inflict upon himself shortly. Since he is an alpha and is old enough to be my father, it is reasonable to expect him to be aware of how to lead a pack effectively.
I frowned as I glanced at the disrepair of the many quaint but dilapidated homes that dotted the landscape. This is not how any member of the pack should be living. It seemed like a trip to this region was long overdue. When we drew up to the pack home, it seemed that people of higher status were the only ones who lived there. It was extravagant to be garish, but it was still a lot better than what the average pack members were living.
When I glanced at Michael and the other guys riding in the vehicle with me, their expressions matched mine: they were appalled by how the pack's leader was leading them. As we came to a halt in front of the home, I could feel the wrath rising inside me to the surface. We all got out of the vehicles, and as soon as I did, my nose was met with the most tantalizing aroma it had ever experienced in its whole existence. I was nearly knocked off my feet by it. My inner wolf was going crazy as soon as it registered what it was that fragrance belonged to.
I tried to maintain as much composure as possible while rapping on the door and waiting for someone to let me in. I knew this wasn't required, but I wanted to give myself some space to collect my thoughts and relax.
An elderly lady opened the door, and as she did so, her eyes became very wide.
"Your highness, how may I be of use to you?" She stumbled as she said.
"Can you tell me where your alpha is?" I demanded.
Her eyes became even wider.
"I-I believe he's in his bedroom right now, sir."
A piercing cry pierced the peace that had descended upon the home before I had the chance to reply. I started to make my way past the lady and up the stairs when an older guy, whom I presumed to be the beta due to the strength that was emanating from him, stopped me. He seemed apprehensive.
"Your Majesty, I don't understand why you are here; there was no prior arrangement for a meeting or anything else."
I gave the elder guy a menacing look that it might have brought even the most powerful man to his knees.
"It would do you well to keep in mind that I am the owner of this region and have no obligation to coordinate anything with anybody else. Where is Tony right now? I need to speak to him right now."
If he was worried before, now he appeared to be on the verge of passing out. In a state of nervousness, he adjusted the collar of his shirt and stared down at the ground.
"He has a lot going on right now."
"I don't give a fuck how busy he is; I want him in front of me in thirty seconds, or someone will pay," the speaker said. "I want him in front of me in thirty seconds, or someone will pay." I let out a low roar.
Another scream, identical to the one that came before it, pierced the air before he could respond. There was something very odd about this scream, and it nearly made me feel like I was being punched in the stomach.
I was startled when I felt someone grab my arm, and when I glanced down, I saw the lady doing so with a very distressed expression on her face.
"Would you kindly assist her?"
That was the last thing she managed to utter before being flung across the room and having her body slammed against a wall by the beta. Growls were let out by both my guys and myself, and Michael pounced on him and held him to the ground by holding him down.
"How dare you!" It sounded like a roar.
The beta desired to take his own life because he spat in Michael's face rather than submitting as he should have. In a single second, Michael thrust his canines forward and tore out his opponent's throat.
At this time, we had constructed a little crown within the home, and I decided to draw a lesson from the events. I approached his body and hoisted it up by his hair so that everyone in the room could see it.
"Let this serve as a lesson to everyone who harbors the thought that they may insult their monarch," the speaker said.
Everyone showed their submission by bowing their heads. After scanning the room, my attention was drawn to the elderly lady a passerby had assisted in obtaining a seat on one of the couches. I made my way over to her and knelt in front of her.
"Ma'am, you said you helped save someone; could you please tell me where she is?"
When she seized both of my hands, everyone around us let out a shocked scream. It was against the law for anybody to touch royalty, but I was well aware that she posed no danger to me and that other concerns were more pressing at the moment.
"You have no choice but to assist that wretched young lady; she can't take much more."
"I need you to tell me where she is, so please tell me where she is. " I addressed her in a soothing tone. "She was the one who was screaming, and he is the one who is causing her pain. He pulled her upstairs. Please, you are responsible for assisting her and removing her from this location."
I turned my attention to Michael. "You all remain with them, and no one leaves; is that what you all understand?"
They all nodded. I turned my attention back to the lady, carefully dislodged her hands from mine, and then raised my head to look at her.
"I'm going to go retrieve her. Is everything all right?"
She acknowledged my words with a nod and a soft "thank you."
I rose and started walking in the direction of the stairs. It came to my attention that the beautiful aroma grew even more strong the farther I progressed up the stairs. Because of how engrossed I was in the smell, I had lost track of why I had come up here in the first place.
The fragrance led me to a pair of double doors, and as I walked through them, I was immediately assaulted by the putrid smell of blood, and something inside me broke. I smashed the door with my fists and let out a piercing roar full of wrath. The things I witnessed did nothing except make me angrier.
There he was, Alpha Tony; he was resting on top of something, or more accurately someone, with a hammer held over his head.
The wolf inside me seized total control, and I rushed for the man to murder him.
Because I was focusing all of my concentration on him, the second wolf approaching from my left went unnoticed by me. I swiftly got rid of him, but many other wolves attacked me. I killed them all down in minutes without transforming, proving that they were even more foolish than I had assumed if they believed they could defeat the alpha monarch.
When I turned around, I was prepared to attack Tony, and when I saw no one else there, I figured that he must have escaped when I was trying to get rid of the other wolves. I let out a loud growl. I was on the verge of destroying the entire room when I heard a whimper that completely stopped me in my tracks. Suddenly, I looked down at the bed, and what I saw gave me the feeling that my heart was being ripped out of my chest. I made a beeline towards the bed where she was lying, her arms shackled together over her head. She had lacerations down her arm and across her body. She was completely covered in blood, which had also soaked the mattress, and she had a steady stream of blood coming out of her side.
"Shit."
I knew that I needed to take immediate action since her pulse was so weak, and she was losing blood at an alarming rate. I yanked the chains off her wrists, producing a hissing sound as the silver came into contact with my hands. I quickly pulled off my jacket and put it on the cut on her side, doing my best to ignore the sparks that went up to my arms as soon as they made contact with her flesh. I have to get her out of this place immediately.
"Mike! Raise yourself right now!"
I heard Michael's footsteps pounding their way up the stairs, and then he walked through the door. When he saw her, the color left his face.
"What the devil could have possibly happened to her?"
When I saw him looking at her like that while she was nude, I let a low growl at him."
"Mine!"
He showed a sign of submission by putting his hands up and taking a step back.
"It's OK, she's yours, but we need to get her some care because she's losing a lot of blood. Hey, guy, everything is good; she's yours. It seems like you'd be interested in getting to know my new luna, but I'm not so sure about you. Silas, you need to get her to a doctor as soon as possible; she is on her deathbed. Calm down, dude, and take a good look at her."
I knew he was correct, so I made an effort to compose myself, covered her in the blanket, and held her in my arms while applying pressure to her side. I did this as well as I could.
Michael sprinted ahead of me, calling for a doctor as we approached the building.
Where can we find the pack doctor?
I was the only one who responded to him, so I let out a menacing growl. "Where the f*** is the pack, doctor!" yelled the guy.
The more experienced lady raised her voice. "Because we do not own one, you will be required to return her to your domain. Oh my, you gotta hurry, go immediately!"
I muttered an expletive under my breath and then bolted towards the vehicles, dragging the guys I had brought with me after me. Michael stepped into the driver's seat, and I climbed into the backseat, where I did my best to avoid jostling my partner too much by minimizing the amount of movement I caused.
"Mike, you need to step it up because she's losing too much blood."
We were quickly moving once he planted his foot firmly on the accelerator.
