Chapter 3

3.

The next day, my lawyer sent over the draft of the Divorce Petition.

I reviewed it, and once I was sure everything was in order, I forwarded it to Damian.

Then, I started packing my bags.

Less than half an hour later, Damian rushed home.

And with him, of course, was Sienna.

"Hailey, what the hell did you just send me?"

I paused my packing and looked at him. "The divorce petition. The filename says 'Divorce Petition.' Can't you read?"

"You..."

Before Damian could get a word out, Sienna started crying.

She grabbed my arm, tears streaming down her face as if on command, her body slumping against me.

"Hailey, I'm so sorry. I know you're only filing for divorce because you misunderstood what's going on between me and Damian."

"But I swear, there's nothing going on. Maybe we loved each other once, but that was a long time ago. We have our own lives now. I have my son, and he has his family. We're just friends."

"Damian was just being kind, helping a single mother in a tough spot. Hailey, please, don't be angry. Don't let me ruin your marriage." Her voice cracked with emotion. "If you don't want to see me, I'll take my son and leave right now. I promise you'll never see us again."

Sienna made a show of turning to leave, but after two steps, her body went limp as if she was about to faint.

Seeing his ex-girlfriend about to collapse, Damian forgot all about me and rushed to her side.

"Sienna, be careful! Your leg is still injured."

He shot a venomous glare in my direction. "Can't you just give it a rest? Sienna told me she was so upset after seeing your comment that she got distracted coming down the mountain in Alaska and fell. Can't you stop making things harder for her?"

I just stared at him, completely baffled as to how my Instagram comment had somehow caused a physical injury.
