Hilda woke up with a gasp and a sharp pain suddenly twinged in her head. She winced from the pain and soon, it turned into a slight throbbing. She opened her eyes wider to see where she was and everywhere was the color of cement. The room felt lifeless and looked colorless. It was small too and there was no one around so she couldn’t even guess where she could be.

She tried to move but her ankles were seal taped, her wrists too and she also had a tape on her mouth so her movement was very restricted. She couldn’t even move at all. She noticed she was on a small mattress that was placed on the floor and there was even a pillow. Was this where she had been ever since she was knocked out? How long had she even spent here?

She tried to remember what happened before she passed out and the image of Alan getting stabbed with a sword flashed before her eyes. She whimpered, trying to stay quiet as the gnashing feeling of hurt, loss, and grief hit her and tore her heart and soul to shreds. She couldn’t believe her father and Alan were dead and she was never going to see them again. She found it hard to accept that they were gone for good.

It all happened in one night and all the people she ever knew had been taken away from her. Even her pack was taken away from her too. She didn’t even know who did it and she wasn’t sure if there was a way to know but she swore to herself at that moment that she was going to make the culprit pay and it was going to be a gruesome and bloody payback.

She was still sad, her heart kept on sinking deeper and deeper and it was getting even harder to breathe as time passed. The loss of her only family was hitting her more and more and soon, she couldn’t keep her whimpering quiet. Tears fell nonstop from her eyes and if her wrists weren’t taped, she would be pulling at her hair with the hope that the pain in her scalp will help to make her feel the pain in her heart, less.

Then she heard a click from the door and she snapped her head toward its direction immediately. Her sight was blurry from crying so she couldn’t see clearly but she could hear the key being turned in the keyhole and she knew someone was coming. She sniffed.

The door opened and she saw a shadow before she heard footsteps and the person walked into the room. He was a man and he was very big. She looked up at him as she sniffed again and she heard him snicker. Another figure followed almost immediately and she wondered if there were more than two men in this building. Where exactly was she? What were they going to do to her?

“The princess is still having a grieving party I see,” the first man said as he went closer to her and she moved back, away from him until her back touched the wall and she had nowhere else to go. The second man chuckled, his voice laced with amusement. What exactly was so funny at the moment? Hilda wondered as the alarms in her head rang nonstop. Even her wolf in her head was terrified.

They kidnapped her so they were definitely dangerous and she didn’t know what they would do next. The first man ripped the tape off her mouth and it burned her skin as she shut her eyes to suppress the pain. Then she opened her eyes to glare at him.

“Who are you?” she asked and the first man laughed. “The people that would make a good pay with you princess” the man replied and she scrunched her eyebrows in confusion. What was he talking about? Weren’t they the ones who set her pack on fire? “What do you mean?” she requested.

“You’re the last lycan, baby. Do you know how much you are worth right now?” he asked her and Hilda’s mouth went dry. A new form of fear took over her as she realized what was happening. They were going to sell her and she didn’t even know who she was going to end up with next. What if it was a person that had a fetish for torturing people? She shuddered at that thought and when she looked back at the man before her, his stare on her was so intense that it made her skin crawl with disgust.

She inched further away from him in fear and he blinked when he realized he had stared for way too long. “You must be hungry right?” he stood up and her eyes followed him. Did she look like hunger was her problem at the moment? The man didn’t know that though because he was still waiting for her to answer. She licked her dry lips. “Are you the ones who set the pack on fire?” she asked and the man shook his head.

“Our boss did for a reason I don’t know about. He doesn’t even know you are here because he thinks you are dead but we'll make money with you” The man laughed and Hilda was disgusted. She was just a secret business of theirs for their selfish wants. Was that why they were answering all her questions? Because they were trying to be nice to her since their boss didn’t know she was even in the building? That meant she could scream out for help, but she would have to get them out of the room first.

“I need to drink water” she replied to the man’s question earlier and he nodded before he walked toward his partner and tapped him on the shoulder. They communicated in hushed tones for a while before the second man looked at her over the first man’s shoulder and he smiled. “Don’t think about yelling for help. This room is soundproof and even if the boss finds you, he will kill you” he said and Hilda’s hope vanished. She wanted to have him sliced apart with her claws. “Malcolm is going you something to eat princess,” he said and she sneered at him. How the hell did he expect her to know who Malcolm was?

He ignored her and walked out of the room along with the first man and she was alone again. She began to struggle with the tape around her wrists immediately the door closed shut but it wouldn’t budge and it was beginning to bite into her skin. She hissed when it tore her skin on her wrist and she realized it would be no use struggling with the tape. It was only going to end up tearing her skin the more.

She groaned frustratingly as she let her head fall and tears filled her eyes again. She wished she could go back in time and prevent the previous night from turning out to be so tragic but she couldn’t and she would have to live with that for life.
