Chapter 3 The conversation

As Michael waves the envelope excitedly, Jada's eyes widen in surprise. "Wait, this is for me?" she asks, her heart racing with anticipation.

Michelle nods eagerly, her smile widening. "Yes, Jada! The interview you went for yesterday was successful. They just called to offer you the position!" she exclaims, her voice filled with pride.

Tears of relief and joy welled up in Jada's eyes as she took in the news. "I can't believe it," she whispers, her voice choked with emotion. "After everything that happened yesterday..."

Her siblings rush to her side, enveloping her in a tight embrace. "We knew you could do it, Jada," Michael says, his voice filled with unwavering confidence.

"And now we'll all be working together," Michelle adds, her eyes shining with excitement.

In that moment, surrounded by the love and support of her siblings, Jada feels an overwhelming sense of gratitude and happiness. Despite the challenges and setbacks she faced, she knows that with her family by her side, she can overcome anything that comes her way. With renewed determination, she embraces the opportunities that lie ahead, ready to embark on this new chapter of her journey.

As Jada's siblings continue to celebrate with her, their father, Steven, appears in the doorway, a warm smile gracing his face as he carries a tray with a glass of milk and a plate of cookies. "What's all this excitement about?" he asks, his voice filled with affection.

Jada's face lights up at the sight of her father, and she quickly wipes away her tears of joy. "Dad, you won't believe it! I got the job!" she exclaims, her voice bubbling with excitement.

Steven's eyes widened in surprise and pride. "That's wonderful news, sweetheart!" he exclaims, setting the tray down on the bedside table. "I always knew you had it in you."

As Jada reaches for a cookie, Steven turns his attention to the twins, who are still buzzing with excitement. "Now, now, let's give your sister some space to enjoy her moment," he says gently, his tone firm yet loving.

Michael and Michelle exchange sheepish glances, but their excitement is palpable as they beam at their older sister. "Sorry, Jada," Michael says apologetically. "We just couldn't wait to share the good news with you."

Jada laughs, feeling a surge of gratitude for her family's unwavering support. "It's okay, you two," she reassures them, reaching out to ruffle their hair affectionately. "I couldn't have done it without you."

As they sit together, sharing milk and cookies in the warm glow of their shared happiness, Jada knows that no matter what challenges may come their way, they will always have each other to lean on. And with their love and support, she feels ready to take on whatever the future may hold.

As the family revels in Jada's success, Steven gently ushers everyone out of the room, insisting that Jada needs some rest after the eventful day. With reluctant nods, the twins bid their sister goodnight, promising to celebrate properly in the morning.

Left alone in her room, Jada's gaze falls upon the envelope bearing her name. With trembling hands, she tears it open, her heart pounding with anticipation. As she reads the contents of the letter, her eyes widen in disbelief.

The letter reveals her scheduled time of resumption: in three days, at 8:30 am. Her attire is to be corporate and neat, a detail that sends a shiver down her spine. But it's the final piece of information that leaves her stunned: her position in the office is to be the personal assistant to Fred Lucian.

The realization hits her like a ton of bricks. How could she, with her limited experience and qualifications, have secured such a prestigious position? It doesn't add up. Suspicion gnaws at the edges of her mind as she wonders if Fred has something up his sleeves.

Fighting back a wave of unease, Jada is left with more questions than answers. With the letter clutched tightly in her hand, she can't shake the feeling that there's more to this opportunity than meets the eye. And as she prepares to embark on this new chapter of her career, she knows that navigating the complexities of office politics and personal ambition will be no easy task.

Jada is seen pacing back and forth in her apartment living room. She's clutching her phone tightly, nervously dialing her friend Kayla's number. Finally, Kayla picks up.*

**Jada:** Hey, Kayla. I have some news!

**Kayla:** Hey, Jada! What's up? You sound excited!

**Jada:** Well, I got the job I applied for... as a secretary at that big news firm downtown.

**Kayla:** Wow, Sarah, that's fantastic! Congratulations!

**Jada:** Thanks, but... I don't know. Something feels off about it.

**Kayla:** What do you mean? Why would you think that?

**Jada:** It's just... the interview was strange. Fred, the CEO of the news agency who was also part of my interviewers, he seemed too eager to not hire me, he kept asking weird questions, like he wanted me to fail, and suddenly I am his secretary.

**Kayla:** Hmm, that does sound a bit odd. But maybe he was just trying to gauge your availability and commitment.

**Jada:** Maybe, but I can't shake this feeling that he's hiding something. And the way he looked at me, it was... unsettling.

**Kayla:** Hey, don't worry too much about it, Jada. You're smart and capable, and you aced that interview. Maybe Fred just sees your potential and wants to give you a chance.

**Jada:** I hope you're right, Kayla. I really need this job, but I don't want to end up in a situation I regret.

**Kayla:** Trust yourself, Jada. If anything feels off once you start working there, you can always reassess. But for now, celebrate this achievement. You deserve it!

**Jada:** Thanks, Kayla. You always know how to calm my nerves. I'll try to focus on the positives for now.

**Kayla:** That's the spirit! And remember, I'm always here for you, no matter what.

The conversation ends with Jada feeling a bit more reassured, though still harboring some doubts about her new job.

That's everything available right now.
