Chapter 3 Meeting The U&K
Benedict Quin's POV» In one gulp, I emptied my glass into my mouth and heaved a sigh. For over a month now, my mind has been a place for only those eighteen and above. Or probably twenty-one! I was never kind enough to reminisce about sex with women I hooked up with, but that woman I had met at DareDevils stalked my mind and blurred out every other thought except hers. All I had been thinking about was how good it felt to be with her, how she moaned and clung to me. It made me feel like I was just having sex for the first time! I don't know why I was still so drawn to her though. Maybe it was the spark in her big brown eyes as she stared at me, or the way that fucking sexy dress clung to her body so tightly and revealed just about everything any man would want to see. Even though her make-up was light, she was overflowing with beauty. I found myself craving just a fragment of what I had felt with her that night. I wanted to feel that way so badly again. "Need some company, hot stuff?" I turned my head around to where the voice had come from. A skinny white-skinned lady stood next to me with her teeth biting on her lower lip. A glittering black top that covered only her nipples clung tightly onto her chest, which barely had any flesh to it and a leather short cupped her small butt. I needed no one to tell me I'd be disappointed in fucking her. Sure, I was horny, but not desperate. She trailed her bony hands down my thigh, and it felt like I was being touched by a stick. I immediately push her hands away but try to be as polite as I can be at the moment. "Fuck off." She scowled at me as she walked away, possibly cursing at me. I think she got the message. No matter how I tried to take her off my mind, that nameless one-night stand refused to leave me for a single day, and sometimes I wondered if this woman thought of me as much as I did. What am I even doing here? I asked myself. As a man with a lot of things to worry about, a club was the worst place to be. I should not have been bothered by something else: the drop in sales in my marketing company. That should be worth thinking about. With only one company left invested in us, it was a must they be impressed. It was a food company that mostly dealt with canned edibles, but they needed something new to approach the market. The manager of my company had assured me of a successful project tomorrow that I would find thrilling. The past few ones submitted to me were rather trash works than projects. I went back home for some rest and hoped for the best. A distant buzzing called for my attention as it grew nearer and louder. I opened my eyes and realized it was my phone ringing. Turning to my alarm clock, a frown formed on my face. Who in their damn right sense would think of placing a call at three in the morning! My hand reached for my phone and, to my surprise, it was Jennifer. A sigh escaped my mouth as I answered the call. We both listened in silence, and I was just as determined as she was to not say a word until she did. Even more determined! "Ben..." She muttered my name. "I won." "Jen..." I called her name in the same way she said mine. I heard her smile over the phone. "Why are you doing this to us? We have been perfect for years, and you just want to throw that all away?" Perfect, she said, have we? If there was any achievement to our relationship, then it was its length. We always went on breaks and then got back together after a while. It was starting to feel like a normal routine, and I was left wondering if she truly still loved me. "What do you want from me, Jen?" She scoffed. "Nothing, I just want you." "You can't leave me," Ben said. "You belong to me and I will have you for as long as I want." Obsessive. She was that for sure. I did belong to her, nothing but a puppet she'd hang on the wall to play with her other toys, then come back to me. I was beginning to think if I had any worth in her eyes. "Goodnight Jen." I hung up before she could say anything else. All my life, I have loved one woman. Jennifer. With all my heart, I love her and I still do. But our relationship had the resemblance of nothing but a child's play. I secretly hated myself because I knew I would still return to her. It was all I thought about until I fell asleep. ★ "Thank you for coming today, Mr Quin." David Cosby, the manager of my company, greeted me with a wide smile. "All that matters is what this staffer of yours has come up with. "Do you really think he can bring us the recognition we need?" I questioned him as I sat down. "She, Sir, yes, she can. She is newly joined but with so many good ideas that we must put to the test. I promise you that once we release this product, the public will love it and other companies will come piling at our doorsteps to help market them as well." I swallowed, feeling a little ashamed of myself. Was I being gender-neutral just now? I only nodded my head in response. A few minutes later, the door pushed open, and a young brown-haired lady rushed into the conference room. As she greeted her with a smile, I knew immediately that I had seen her before. She flicked hair from her shoulder-length bangs a little further away from her face and her big brown eyes became clearer. My nameless one-night stand! It was really her standing in front of me. I quenched the urge to speak to her as she introduced herself smoothly. Nova, what a beautiful name for a woman as beautiful as she was. As she talked further about her idea, a meal kit it seemed, I got the chance to see her in a better light. She was dressed officially in a blue suit, an ensemble that paired matching trousers and jacket with a blouse. Her trousers clung to her thin waist so firmly and a nasty image of me pulling them down was displayed in my head. Her jacket held on to her body closely and its waist was cinched. Her attire oozed confidence and it made me smile. She wasn't just good at sex alone, but also a reliable worker as well. Our eyes happened to meet and she suddenly fell silent. She cursed out and, for some reason, her reaction caused a smirk to work up my face. Realizing her mistake, she apologized and finished the rest of her presentation without paying me any attention. Mr Cosby announced it was a great idea for the company after I gave him a slight nod and her face brightened up immediately. I decided to have a talk with her. "Mr Quin, when do you think we can begin with the project?" Mr Cosby called to my attention. "Should we set up a meeting with the owner of U&K to tell him about our idea?" "Since we are marketing for U&K, it's only best if we do so," I hurriedly responded. Looking back up, I met with her backside as she exited the conference room. Did she even remember me? Maybe it would be best to leave things till when we meet again. Soon, surely.
