Chapter 2

"Here we go! Clean this too. And this one. Why is there dust? Is this what you call clean? Why is it still dirty?" With his continuous orders and complaints, I no longer know what I should prioritize.

It's infuriating! You know, I decided to be a good personal maid, and yet this annoying guy takes advantage of it!

"Just wait a moment, Sir. Please, just take it easy?" I emphasized the words 'Sir' and 'please'. He's so frustrating and irritating. "So many complaints. You're so good, why don't you clean this yourself." I whispered to make sure he didn't hear.

I gave him a half-hearted smile, and when he looked away, I secretly rolled my eyes at him. I made a face too.

"You're my personal maid, so better act one," he said firmly, only further irritating me.

He's making it clear to me that I'm just a maid! Should I slap him? "It's like you can't even do this right, I'm wasting my money on you." Go ahead, keep rubbing it in. "I shouldn't have hired you in the first place. Tsk. Childish." My ears started to ring, and I almost threw the cloth at him.

Why does he always only see my mistakes? Why does it seem like I never do anything right? If only I had continued my education, if only I had pursued the course I dreamt of in college.

"You know how unfair you are! Why are you so kind to the other maids, but when it comes to me... argh! Forget it." I just sighed and resumed cleaning his room. Yes! I'm cleaning his room. Can you believe it? I know it's big, and his bed is king-sized, but seriously, it's so demanding to clean.

Changing the bed sheet alone is a struggle for me. What more the entire room that he always insists on being cleaned. It's like he thinks it hasn't been cleaned for a year, and he might as well have it cleaned every day. In short, whenever he feels like it.

I can't even count how many sighs and eye rolls I've done.

"So as I was saying, let's make a deal," he said, as if he's absolutely certain I'd agree to this deal.

"Hey Laxer! Where are you?" He furrowed his brow. He must be surprised that I addressed him so casually. "Aren't we in the Philippines anyway? Can you please stop with the English?" Seriously, his accent is just too good and it annoys me. Damn. Why am I being so pointless now?

Don't get me wrong, I can speak and understand English. There, I just did it again. I didn't finish college because I was only in my first year when mother passed away. So, I wasn't able to continue my studies.

Add to that the fact that I became Laxer's personal maid. Yes, sometimes that's what I call him, especially when I'm annoyed with him, and he doesn't really care about me.

There's nothing special about me.

There's only a three-year gap between us. He's only 23 but he's already a well-known billionaire. Who wouldn't be? He's the youngest. Truly, what his own intelligence and wealth from his parents' businesses can achieve is remarkable.

He's the owner or operator of chains of hotels and resorts, as well as restaurants in the country. I know he has other businesses, but I can't seem to remember them. He's a preferred choice for famous investors and people who are just starting out in business.

All of those are well-known, and just by seeing the sign or logo with D.V. (short for Del Valle), you know he owns it.

It's just puzzling because sometimes he's here in the mansion and all he does is sign a multitude of papers... and he's already earning. With the number of people rushing to invest in his businesses, it's no surprise.

I can't help but wonder, does he even have a social life? I've lost count of how many sighs and eye rolls I've done.

"It's tiring... and annoying," I muttered, but I deliberately let him hear it.

"Let's make a deal." I was taken aback when he suddenly spoke. What deal is this now? I'm already bound by that contract, and now there's another deal? "Stop making that expression..." What? What expression? I'm not doing anything here, I'm not even making a face in front of him. He's so confusing! "You're too obvious. I bet you already killed me... in your mind." The what? Since when did he become a mind reader?

"At least you know..." I muttered. It seems like he didn't hear it, or maybe he just pretended not to and acted like he heard nothing.

I rolled my eyes again. I don't care if he sees it.

"So as I was saying, let's make a deal," he said, sounding very sure that I would agree to this deal.

Because even I have to admit, I find him attractive and handsome. He has a beautiful face, a body sculpted with abs that make it even more enticing. How do I know? Sometimes I see him swimming. He's just the hot and richest bachelor of today's generation! But I really can't stand his personality. They say you can't have it all... no matter how many times he's featured in magazines saying he has everything, it's still not enough.

"Are you listening? There, I'm speaking in Tagalog. Happy now?" I returned to my senses because it seems like I've been lost in thought about him for too long. Oh my! He said he's speaking in Tagalog now, but there's still some English mixed in.

"Huh? What were you saying again?" I asked him with a furrowed brow.

"What the fuck! Jearri! I've been talking here about that stupid deal, and then you'll just ask what is it as if you never listened at all!" He yelled at me! There he goes again. Mixing English and cursing. Oh dear!

I don't know what urged me to stand on tiptoe to try to match his height. I looked at his face, filled with wonder. I hardly realized that I myself was moving my face closer to his.

His eyebrows met in surprise, but it didn't diminish his handsomeness at all. Oh, Jearri! It seems my body has a mind of its own. I barely thought about every move I made.

I touched his meeting eyebrows with my two fingers and separated them. He seemed surprised because I noticed that his ears turned slightly pink, and his slightly narrow eyes widened a bit.

"Shit! Let's talk about that deal some other time." It seems he just realized what I did, and then he walked out again, running his hands through his hair as if he's annoyed with himself.

I grinned. It looks like he was affected by what I did.

After I finished cleaning his room, which took a few hours because I made sure he had nothing left to criticize, I went downstairs and searched for him throughout the mansion.

This mansion is so huge and spacious, it's a modern mansion. I'm looking for him because... because I want to tell him that I'm done cleaning his room. It's already six o'clock. It's getting a bit dark. I headed towards the swimming pool. Why is it so dark here now? Did the worker forget to turn on the lights?

It's a bit creepy. It's like there are eyes watching me.

"Boo!"

"Wow, a frog!" Those were the exact words that came out of my mouth due to surprise, which was also the cause of my slip, but... Fortunately, Laxer caught me right away. He really startled me! Like a child. But it seems he couldn't quite balance the two of us, and his arm was tightly wrapped around my waist. It was so tight that I couldn't fall or let go of him, but we both still ended up falling into the swimming pool.
