When I returned to the showroom, it was nearly closing time.

Technically, I had skipped work the entire afternoon, but my boss was thrilled that I closed a high-end sale on my second day. Instead of scolding me, he generously gave me the next morning off.

The very next day, my new boyfriend Colton brought me another client.

“Babe, my corporate boss wants to buy one of your premium massage chairs too.”

When Colton texted me the news, I practically jumped for joy.

It seemed my luck had finally turned around; I was winning in both love and career!

I stood outside the showroom entrance, waiting eagerly until a sleek luxury Mercedes pulled up.

Colton was acting as the chauffeur. The moment the car stopped, he jogged around to open the rear door for his boss.

Stepping out was a portly, middle-aged man in an expensive suit.

The man spotted me immediately and walked over under Colton’s guidance.

With my previous successful sale boosting my confidence, my pitch was smooth, engaging, and persuasive.

Once again, it was a home delivery order.

With Colton by my side the whole time, I felt completely safe and at ease.

“Have some water, dear. You look exhausted and dripping with sweat.”

My stamina had always been on the weaker side, and hauling around in the scorching summer heat left me drenched.

As I drank the water, I noticed the wealthy boss staring at me with a greasy, lecherous grin.

An uneasy feeling flared up inside me. Panicking, I tried to make an excuse to leave.

Yet the moment I stood up, my legs buckled under me, completely devoid of strength.

After that, everything went black.

When I woke up, I was lying stark naked on a bed. A terrified scream tore from my throat.

Suddenly, Colton walked over from the corner, and I realized I was in his bedroom.

“It's okay, baby, you are safe...”

Colton wrapped his arms around me, soothing me and telling me I had just suffered a terrible nightmare.

Was it really just a nightmare?

Why was there a massive blank in my memory? I distinctly remembered losing all strength right after drinking the glass of water in that creepy boss’s penthouse.

“You got heatstroke from the sweltering weather, babe. Working outside in this heat is brutal. In a couple of days, I will bring some of my gym buddies to buy chairs from you too!”

It was true that extreme heat could cause sudden collapses, so his explanation sounded reasonable.

Now that I had Colton’s warm embrace, my fear dissolved into relief.
