Chapter 1

After successfully completing my mission, I was over the moon.

I took my whole family on a beach vacation to celebrate.

While we were watching the fireworks, I overheard my son whispering to my husband.

"Daddy, now that Mommy's mission is a success, can we finally bring Auntie Luna home?"

My husband gently stroked his hair and smiled. "Of course we can."

"Once we head back tomorrow, I'll ask your mother for a divorce, okay?"

My son cheered with joy. The smile on my face only grew brighter.

They had no idea.

To me, this world was nothing more than a mission graveyard.

Now that my mission was complete, I took my husband and son to the coast.

As the fireworks painted the sky, Silas Vance suggested we take a family photo.

When I stood up to pose, I heard my son look up at his father.

"Daddy, now that Mommy's mission is a success, can we finally bring Auntie Luna home?"

"I'm so tired of Mommy. To help her finish her task, we had to sneak around every time we wanted to see Auntie Luna."

"I wish Auntie Luna was my real mom. Then she wouldn't have to stay away just because Mommy's mission wasn't done."

I froze in place. Through the camera lens, I saw Silas tenderly stroking our son's hair.

"You don't like your mom either?" Silas asked softly.

"It's fine. Her task is over now. Tomorrow, as soon as we get back, I'll bring up the divorce."

"After that, it'll just be you, me, and Auntie Luna. We'll be together forever, okay?"

Before my son could even cheer, he spotted my pale, stony face.

He instinctively grabbed Silas's leg, his small eyes filled with sudden panic.

He tried to act close to me like he always did, but I spoke to Silas first.

"We don't need to wait until tomorrow. Let's start the divorce process tonight."

Silas's eyes flickered with a brief moment of silence, but he spoke quickly.

"So you heard everything?"

"Good. We were never from the same world anyway. I'll make sure you're compensated fairly."

"No need," I refused flatly.

"I don't belong to this world. Even if you gave me everything, I couldn't take it with me."

"I'll see you at the courthouse tomorrow morning."
