Chapter 3

Alfonso's Point Of View

As I gazed into her hazel eyes, a surge of emotions washed over me. We were mates? I couldn't believe it. But how could this be? I, an Alpha King to a werewolf pack bound to a human?

Confusion swirled within me as I stared widely at her. I had spent centuries roaming this earth, never once imagining that I would find my mate, let alone in the form of a human. Yet here she was, standing before me, her presence stirring something deep within my soul.

I remembered how I had once anticipated to be with my destined mate but as years turned into centuries, I had resigned myself to the belief that such a union was nothing more than a distant dream since it was taking long for me to find her especially with the fact that I never fancy women.

But why had the mood goddess chosen her, a mere mortal, to be my mate? It was confusing.

As her eyes widened in shock seeing my appearance, I couldn't help but feel a twisted satisfaction at the fear evident on her face. My wolf, however, stirred uneasily within me, uncomfortable with the terror we had incited. I knew it was because of the mate bond we had.

I watched her closely as I shifted effortlessly from my lupine form to that of a human. The transformation seemed to freeze her in place, her expression morphing from terror to bewilderment. It was clear she had never encountered anything like me before. Werewolves were not common knowledge among humans, and encountering one in the flesh was undoubtedly a surreal experience.

As I stood before her, naked and vulnerable in my human guise, I felt a strange sense of exposure. My wolf recoiled at the feeling, longing to retreat to the safety of our primal form. But something about this girl held me captive, tethering me to this moment in a way I couldn't fully comprehend.

Her gaze flickered over my human form, curiosity mingling with fear in her eyes. I could sense the questions swirling in her mind, the disbelief warring with a desperate need for understanding. And though I knew I should have remained aloof, distant, the urge to bridge the gap between us was overpowering.

I went on to ask her what her name was and she said Elara. I hummed and reached out to her, pulling her from the ground when suddenly she asked, "You're a human?" I nodded my head, acknowledging her question with a faint smile. The moonlight illuminated her face, offering a glimpse of her otherworldly beauty as we stood in the midst of the woods.

Before I could utter a single word, a faint unsettling scent wafted through the air, sending a shiver down my spine. The unmistakable scent of rogues, lurking within the shadows of the wilderness. "This ingrate," I whispered to myself, realizing that we had stumbled upon more than just an accidental encounter.

With a sense of urgency, I quickly scanned the surroundings, my senses sharpened and alert, searching for any sign of the lurking threat. Instinctively, I pulled Elara closer to my side, feeling the weight of responsibility for her safety settling upon my shoulders.

I prepared myself to confront the rogue presence with both being careful and vigilant since Elara was a mere human that can’t protect herself from them.

I leaned in close to her, my voice barely more than a breath against the hushed murmur of the forest. "You shouldn't be scared if you see anything terrifying," I whispered, my words meant to reassure her, even as the tension in my own frame belied my attempt at calm.

Just as I spoke, the ominous silence was shattered by the telltale sounds of movement. I watched as rogues appeared from their hiding place as they began to head towards us one after the other, their predatory eyes glinting as wide as ever.

I got tense just by seeing them. I made a loud growl at them as I held Elara who seemed to be frightened already close to me. What exactly were they looking for in my territory? Have they forgotten where they have just entered? What audacity!

“Stay close,” I murmured to Elara as I plotted within me the easiest way to get rid of the nuisances in front of me. Why would they come disrupting my peace at this moment. Should anyone need to explain to them that they were in the wrong place?

My gaze hardened as I faced the encroaching rogues, my eyes burning with righteous anger. They had come at the wrong time, a time where I had just found my mate after so many years of waiting. I couldn't wait to teach them another lesson for them to learn the reason why they should cease obstructing my solace each time their audacity brought them before me.

A flicker of annoyance washed over me, mingling with the fury that pulsed through my veins. How could they have forgotten so quickly how I dealt with them in the past?

With a sharp intake of breath, I channeled my anger into a tangible force, my body vibrating with raw power as I prepared to confront the rogues. They still underestimate my powers and it was disgusting to think of it.

As they came closer, I unleashed a primal roar, the sound reverberating through the woods like a thunderclap. Without any hesitation, I leapt into action, charging at them like a mad dog as I shifted into my big Alpha wolf.

With one swift, I began to hit them one after the other and they kept appearing, I couldn't get the amount of them in total. Only God knew where they saw themselves and before coming at me.

The fight started but I was very vigilant especially when I knew Elara was somewhere behind me shaking in fear. The same time I sank my caniness into one of them was the same time my fangs was attacking another. They were fast and swift as the rogues they were but I was also in action.

Just then, I noticed one of them heading past me, towards where I had left Elara and I knew he was aiming for the worst. I turned back instantly, no one was going to hurt my mate.
