Chapter 3 The Giant Has Fallen

There was no one in sight in the hall on the second floor. Zara operated the elevator and went directly to the president's office on the 28th floor. As soon as she got off the elevator, she heard Trevor answer the media's voice. "Miss Victoria, Vice President Sterling's daughter, from Sterling's group, is about to be engaged. I hope you can give her your blessing. Thank you."

Zara pondered: Wow, the Vice President's daughter, Miss Victoria, is about to get engaged! Sterling Victoria? My best friend when I was 11 years old?

Suddenly, a rude question was thrown at Zara. Xavier, who was standing behind her, heard the question and was furious. He wanted to teach the man who'd asked the question a lesson.

Zara reached into the corner of his coat with a pale face and shook her head at him. She wondered what Trevor would say to that.

"General Manager Steele, there are rumors that you and Logan West's daughter Logan Zara are an item. Now you're engaged to Miss Sterling Victoria. Can you explain that?"

Trevor became the general manager of Logan's family at the age of 24. He was known among the upper class as a golden bachelor. With his elegant appearance, Trevor won the hearts of many women. And at the beginning of their relationship, Zara liked his elegance.

"We used to date, but we've been separated for a long time," Trevor said. He still looked the same, still gentle, and his voice was unchanged.

Those words alone stabbed like a pair of sharp knives into Zara's heart.

Suddenly she remembered drinking Trevor's glass of red wine last night, and Victoria helped her up the stairs.

Everyone was curious as to who was laughing and turned around. Trevor didn't turn around yet, but the sound of laughter was so familiar to him.

"Zara! That's Zara! President Logan's lovely daughter!" A veteran press reporter immediately recognized the Logan family daughter, and all the reporters rallied around Zara.

Trevor saw the sudden appearance of Zara and was shocked. Her face looked a little ugly. Well... he doesn't love her, he only loves her body.

She must've had to disvirginize last night, he thought, then he went to greet Zara and disappeared.

"Miss Logan, what're you laughing at?"

"Miss Logan, how much do you know about President Logan?"

"Why did you part ways with General Manager Steele?"

Question after question was hurled at Zara, but she focused only on Trevor, staring at him like an enemy.

Trevor didn't even have an explanation. Could she understand that his father and he'd taken over her father's efforts? And then abandon her, who now has nothing, and get engaged to her best friend?

Xavier had warned her, however, that Victoria wasn't an easy girl, but she'd turned a deaf ear.

But before he finished speaking, Zara didn't even look at him, and Xavier opened a channel and entered the president's office.

Suddenly she realized that she really wasn't childish. Before today, her father had given her a rich life, but she'd never thought about how she could repay him or lessen his burden.

"Zara, in the future, Dad can't give you what you want..." Logan West looked at the data on the computer, and his heart was broken.

"Dad, I don't want anything from now on. I just want you and Grandma, and then everything will be okay." Zara walked over and gently hugged the man who'd protected her from childhood to adulthood. Logan West looked at his beautiful daughter. Feeling much better, he patted the back of his daughter's hand and slowly rose from the chair to leave.

They both went out and Zara didn't see Xavier at the door, he was already gone, only the reporter was still keeping watch. When she saw Logan West coming out of the office, the reporter immediately surrounded him.

"Mr. Logan, do you've anything to say about your accusation?"

"Mr. Logan, Mr. Killian has said that after you step down as president, the company can no longer be held responsible for your crimes. What do you say to that?"

"President Logan..."

Logan West listened to these unjustified accusations and didn't want to say a word. Zara looked at her father's appearance and said sorrowfully, "Why must your media force my father to admit what he didn't do?
