Chapter 1

1

My daughter is a saintly hypocrite.

When my husband brought his side piece home, she said he was just pursuing his true love.

When I was assaulted by a thug, she said he just made a mistake that any man would make.

When I tried to call the police, she said everyone deserves a second chance. Then, she tied me up and sent me back to that monster's house.

I died in a hit-and-run while trying to escape. My daughter graciously forgave the driver and even paid him for his "emotional distress" using my life insurance.

Now, I have been reborn. She is currently begging me to donate a kidney to our neighbor.

I took her to the hospital myself. "You do it then. I won't stop you."

...

"Mom, Mr. Zane has been so good to us. You have to help him!"

"He pulled so many strings to get me into that elite private academy. He even bought me all my premium stationery."

"When I missed breakfast, he was the one who made me breakfast burritos and sausages. He didn't want me to be hungry."

"I know you aren't an ungrateful person, Mom. It's just a small favor. You'll do it, right?"

I had just woken up in this new life. I was sitting in the back of a taxi, listening to my daughter Sia's relentless nagging.

She sat right next to me, her eyes filled with an eager, pleading look.

When I didn't answer, she raised her voice. "Don't you agree, Mr. Driver?"

The driver chimed in from the front seat. "She's right. If he's been a blessing to your family, you should help him out in his time of need."

Sia nodded vigorously. "Exactly! Mr. Zane is our savior. He's been a bachelor for years with no one to care for him. It's so tragic."

The driver praised her. "What a kind young lady. Your mother is lucky to have raised someone like you."

Lucky? Ha.

I wouldn't wish this kind of luck on my worst enemy.

Sia was always like this, overflowing with a savior complex and obsessed with taking the moral high ground.

If I didn't do what she wanted, she would recruit strangers to judge me. She loved being the hero while making me the villain.

In everyone's eyes, Sia was a sweet, innocent angel.

And I was the cold, heartless mother.

She had been begging me for a while now, but she hadn't mentioned the actual favor. She wanted me to give a kidney to Zane, who had end-stage renal failure.

It was the same in my past life.

Back then, she only said it was a "small help" without giving details. She cried and used the taxi driver to pressure me.

In a state of confusion and guilt, I agreed. I was taken to a shady clinic and drugged until I passed out.

When I woke up, the surgery was over. One of my kidneys was gone.

When I confronted Sia, she looked at me with those puppy-dog eyes. "But Mom, I asked you beforehand and you said yes! I even have a recording, and the driver can testify."

"I didn't know you'd try to back out at the last minute. I'm sorry, Mom. It's my fault for thinking you weren't an ungrateful person..."

She cried like a wilted lily, making everyone around us pity her.

People began to point fingers at me. They called me heartless and a liar. Their insults felt like they were drowning me alive.

When we got home, she cried to my husband and my mother-in-law.

They joined in the abuse, telling me that if I couldn't handle it, I shouldn't have agreed. They called me an embarrassment.

After that, I tried to distance myself from her, but she only got worse.

When my husband, Grant, brazenly brought his mistress home, I told them to get out. Sia told me not to be angry.

She said Dad was just following his heart and that I should step aside for their "true love."

Within three days, the whole neighborhood thought I was a bitter, petty woman. No one even knew Grant was cheating.

Later, when she was harassed by a local creep, I tried to protect her. I grabbed a brick and cracked his head open to save her.

But in front of the crowd, she claimed the creep was "pitiful." She asked what was wrong with him liking her and told me to be more forgiving.

That creep held a grudge. One night, he dragged me into an alley and brutalized me.

I returned home covered in bruises. Sia comforted me by saying he was just drunk and made a "manly mistake."

I wanted to call the police, but she stopped me. She said no one is perfect and he deserved a chance to change. Then, she tied me up and delivered me to his house.

I fought with everything I had to escape. In my panic, I ran into the street and was crushed by a semi-truck. I died instantly.

After my death, Sia forgave the driver. She used my estate to pay him for his "trauma." She said he deserved it.

She told the creep not to worry and that she didn't blame him for what happened to me.

Her ridiculous savior complex left me without even a whole body to be buried in. Yet, she remained the "beautiful soul" in everyone's eyes.

God, I hated her.

I worked myself to the bone for years only to raise a viper that stood on my corpse to build her reputation.

Thankfully, I am back. Her intentions are as clear as day to me now.

I spoke up calmly. "Since Mr. Zane helped you so much, why don't you help him this time?"
