Chapter 3 Last Night
I was COOKING pickled chicken, when I noticed that Jelyssa was knocking on the door as if she was excited.
"Hey! Would you like me to pour some cold water on you, so that you will really be thrilled!” I looked at him.
"Why is that? I'm just glad... apart from Kael's handsomeness, he's also very gentlemanly. I said, there's only one bucket left, look... he filled our drum inside the bathroom. Oh isn't he, he's so sweet?" he said, still staring outside where he could see the faucet that Kael was flirting with.
"And you really recognized my neighbor immediately! It's me, I've been living here for several years, I didn't even know his name was Kael!”
"How do you know, you're so flattered! He knows you..." he said, making me stop what I was doing.
"Known? How did he know me?”
"I know, I'll ask later."
What Jelyssa said made me even more nervous. "What? Nevermind! You're really crazy, I'm not even interested in knowing." I turned my eyes back to what I was doing. At any rate, my friend has no shame in that. But how did he know me? Wait, why am I thinking that? Anyone will know your name, even if you haven't been out much, gossip is the trend!" I whispered to myself.
Kael came later, and placed the bucket on top of the sink. I couldn't help but look at him, how could I be attracted to his handsome arm. It's also my first time to have a man flirt with me.
"Thank you so much, Kael! You're really kind, it's a shame if I just give you twenty pesos for your teasing. Just kiss me—”
"Well!" I surprised him with what he intended to say.
"Ahh... well... hehehe. I'll catch up with you next time, Kael. This friend of mine is really jealous, I'm sorry." I glared at it even more and at that time I approached it and pinched its side.
"What are you, bro! What are you talking about?!"
"Ah... I'll continue," Kael said goodbye.
"Huh? Don't! I mean, can you just eat here? You pay for your procrastination, don't you think? Is he going to eat here?” Jelyssa asked me.
“Wow! And you actually even made an offer... that's great!” I whispered to myself.
"Ah, don't... I'm still quite full," Kael refused.
"I'm still full," I said with a smile. Thank you and he refused.
"Full? How are you full, you're so tired! What are you, aren't you a good cook? Let Kael taste it," he said, still grinning.
"I think you're doing it on purpose!" I whispered to him with wide eyes.
"Don't leave yet, Kael. Eat here," said Jelyssa.
"Huh? It's embarrassing for you...” It turned to me, so I was a little shocked.
“Fine. You eat here, I cooked quite a lot of it.” I walked over to the sink and stirred the pickle again.
"Yeeee! My friend is really smart. Come on Kael, sit here.” Jelyssa sat in the chair and motioned for Kael to sit in another vacant seat. The table was quite small, so we were actually face to face.
"I'm still a little full, it's embarrassing for Keana," Kael whispered to Jelyssa. I heard his weak voice. That's why I smiled a little. It was embarrassing, but he sat anyway.
I put the dish on the plate. Kael suddenly stood up to help me prepare but I stopped him.
"I-I'm Kael, I can do it. Just sit there.” I looked at Jelyssa who was sitting smiling. This my friend is really crazy, what is going on in that mind for sure.
"Bes, you are really good at cooking. Hard at work, smart, beautiful, then added with talent like this. Isn't her husband Kael very lucky?” Jelyssa turned to Kael at the same time.
Kael paled and looked at Jelyssa, "Yes, it's really lucky," Kael agreed.
"Wahhhh! I'm thrilled, Jelyssa shouted.
"Stop that! You're so lazy, don't pay attention to him my friend. It's just fun sometimes." I sat down to start eating. But I felt ashamed of the food. It's embarrassing to eat properly when you have a man in front of you.
"Hmmm. It's really delicious! Bes, why didn't you take the HRM course, after all you have a talent for cooking."
"I want to go to different places," I answered sparingly.
"Hey, you Kael? What are you up to?” Jelyssa turned to it.
"Ah... what, I'm just looking for a job," he stammered.
"Looking for work? You work for me, double pay with extra—” I slapped Jelyssa's hand and she stopped.
"What?" I looked at him so he laughed and turned to Kael again.
"What did you finish, Kael? Do you have a girlfriend?" it asked again.
"Well!" I'll say it again.
"Hehehe. Why? Is it bad to ask? The answer to my second question is more interesting," he said.
Kael was smiling, but he bowed while eating, as if he was shy to face me.
"I'm sorry for covering his mouth, that's how he really is," I apologized to Kael.
"That's fine," he said softly.
"You know, Kael. He is very lucky my friend... did you know that everything you eat is free," said Jelyssa.
"Well! Also..."
"What are you doing, Kael seems to be trustworthy," he said laughing.
"Free?" Kael asked.
"Yes. Because Bes said they won those in the raffle. And he doesn't buy a ticket."
I just kept quiet, how could I not stop my friend from talking.
"He's lucky," Kael said sparingly.
“You know, if I were you... I'd find the person using your name, and I'd say follow the Flat Screen TV. As if it wasn't boring—”
"Are you crazy? And you really made a request?!” I laughed at this.
"Why not? You do realize... don't you Kael?” Jelyssa asked Kael again.
Kael only responded with a smile. That's why I just continued to eat. I know my friend is just as crazy.
Tomorrow...
"Knock Knock! Knock Knock!" I opened the door to the person who kept calling. It was nine o'clock in the morning so I was already awake, and I bumped into a man.
"What is it?" I will ask.
"Ma'am, are you Keana Loiuse De Leon?" asked the man in front of me.
"Yes why?"
"Ma'am, you won the raffle—"
"Wait brother!" I stop here. "What is this again?" I asked with a frown.
"What ma'am, you have a Flat Screen TV." Scratching his head he said.
"I can't accept that, give it back because I didn't win that!" I closed the door. And behind the door I leaned. "Who really does this?"
"W-what happened to you bro?" Jelyssa asked in surprise.
It came from the bathroom and just finished taking a shower.
"Huh? Ah... nothing!” I nervously walked towards the stairs, but he stopped me.
"Wait a minute! why are you pale What's out there?” he asked but when I didn't speak he looked at the door and didn't wait for my answer. He just walked closer to the door.
"Don't be!" I stop here.
He smiled before opening the door.
"Who's in—" Jelyssa was stunned when she saw the man standing outside the door.
"Good morning," greeted Gilbert.
“Gilbert?! It's your morning," said Jelyssa.
I was also surprised to see Gilbert outside. The appliance agent was there just now. Why is Gilbert now there?
"You?!" My eyes widened and I exclaimed.
"W-what is he? You're bad, why did you lock the door on Gilbert? Go on Gilbert.” Jelyssa opened the door for Gilbert to enter.
Gilbert was surprised when he looked at me. "Is there a problem, Keana?" Gilbert asked.
“Yes, why are you sending me appliances and groceries? What do you think of me, beggar?” I will punish him.
"Huh? W-what do you mean?” it was a surprising question.
“You mean... you're the one who sends Keana groceries, and that expensive refrigerator? Then you entered our school so you could be with Keana? Ayyy... you're so romantic Gilbert," said Jelyssa who was thrilled with what Gilbert did.
"Tsk! What's romantic there? Get this refrigerator you sent here, then take your groceries home! The others I used, I'll just pay for them!"
"Wait, Keana... I'm not sending anything like that!" deny it.
"Oh, Papa Gilbert is still babbling, that's fine! Maybe you want to send the receipt too... just in case Bes Keana and I get stuck, we can sell it at the right price."
"Stop Jelyssa! I'm not joking!" I snorted to my friend.
"Oh... don't say it Gilbert, Ateng Keana is menstruating," said Jelyssa.
Gilbert stood up, and approached Keana.
“I didn't send that! Then why should I send appliances?” Gilbert said seriously.
“So why are you with the boy with the Flat Screen TV? Don't tell me you're going to deny it?!”
"Huh? Is that it? I just met that outside, I thought it was just selling or explaining. Wait Keana, why are you so hot for me? Did I do something to you? Tell me. We only met yesterday, but it seems like we have a past conflict." I was stunned by what Gilbert said. What he said is true, why am I so hot headed?
"What are you doing here?" I asked in a low voice.
"I just want to be friends with you, of course Jelyssa as well. Is that bad? I'm a new transfer to the University, that's why I want to have a friend.”
"We are women, you can make friends with your fellow men," I replied.
"No. I mean, not now... it's like there are few male students there who want to be friends with me," said Gilbert sadly.
"Ayyy... Gilbert is pitiful. Allow it, bes, it's not bad to have a male friend. Then Gilbert is rich, he can free us anywhere," replied Jelyssa.
"What are you, Jelyssa!" I widened my eyes and it froze again.
"Okay fine, but aren't you really the one sending this?" I asked again.
"No. Those are not mine," he replied quickly.
"Who is sending this?" I whispered to myself.
"Maybe you have a lover, and he's bringing it to you," Gilbert said.
"There are many people planning to court Bess, and I know you are one of them Gilbert, but besides you... who can bring that?" replied Jelyssa again.
"Last night, we just talked about TV. Then this morning, a TV came right away, couldn't it... couldn't it be Kael?” I looked at Jelyssa, but she responded with a loud laugh.
"Oh common, Keana! Is your brain getting weaker? Papa Kael, will send a TV? Look... do you see his rented house? He has almost nothing in the house, and still no job. Are you telling me that with his hard work he can buy things like that? Or will he try to join the raffle and then just give it to you?" Jelyssa said sarcastically.
"Yes, no!" I agree. "And how did you hear what you said last night?"
"You know, it's just coming now. Then I was the first to say last night, okay, if it's really someone from the ghost who's sending you that, let's ask again... hopefully later, he'll send a Washing Machine. It's like my hand doesn't hurt anymore from doing laundry," joked Jelyssa.
"I don't know about you! You're being silly," I said irritably.
"Hahaha. Hey Gilbert! You heard that right? Maybe later on you'll call your friend and send a Washing Machine, oh! Confirm... it's really you!” Jelyssa said laughing.
"That's not me, and I'm not rich enough to provide appliances," Gilbert denied.
"Really! What can you say about that in your car?"
Gilbert was stunned, that's why he sat back on the sofa shaking himself.
“Gosh! That said... you're so humble!”
"Why are you here Gilbert?" I'll change the subject.
"I plan to pick you up, so we can go in together later.
“Wow! This gentleman is Gilbert. Bes, when Gilbert flirts with you, answer right away... because now I'm falling in love with him," said Jelyssa.
"Why don't you just answer, you're the one who falls! Take care of that!” I left them both. I'll fix things.
While I was packing, I remembered the Flat Screen TV. "Who sent it then? Raffle? He thought he was going to trick me in the raffle. Whoever you are, I will recognize you too!”
