"Are you for real? N100, 000 for weekly allowance? That's huge" my mom screamed.

"Yeah, I know. At least he is generous" I said.

"Yeah and he looks like he is going to be a good father" my mom said.

I looked at my mom. "Mom, you need to see his face when the result came out positive. I doubt he will make a good father"

"You won't blame him dear, maybe he isn't ready"

"But he is ready to get a girl pregnant" I said, sarcastically.

My mom laughed.

"Anyways mom, I am thinking of looking for a job"

My mom looked at me, surprised.

"But why? He already accepted to take care of you till you deliver"

"I know mom but you don't expect me to sit at home all day and night doing nothing just sleeping and eating. I will be bored to death"

"But my dear.........."

"Don't worry mom, I will be fine. Am sure when you were pregnant with me you didn't stay at home all day doing nothing"

"Okay you win" my mom said throwing up her hands in the air in defeat. "Have you found any job yet"

"No but I plan on starting tomorrow to look for available jobs"

"Okay dear. Just be careful"

I flipped through the files in front of me in disgust. What kind of secretary is this. I haven't seen a clumsy and dull secretary as her before.

I dialed the intercom. No response. I tried again, still no response.

"God what kind of girl is this"

"Maryann, maryann" I shouted.

"Mary........" I made to call again when my door opened.

"Sir you called me"

I looked at her like a principal would look at a stubborn student.

"Where were you?"

"Uhm, I stepped out to get food from the canteen"

"That's the only thing you know, food. Look at how fat you are. Eating, that's your hobbie"

She hung her head in shame.

I flunged the files to her.

"Is this what I asked you to get for me"

"Sir I thought.........."

"You don't think. Infact you don't have brain for thinking because if you do you wouldn't bring me the wrong files"

"Am sorry sir"

"Sorry for your fat self"

She was already about to cry.

"It won't repeat it self again"

"Yes it won't because you are fired"

She looked at me in shock.

"Sir I am sorry, I promise it won't ever happen again. Infact I promise not to ever eat in the office again. Please don't fire me sir"

"Clear your desk and leave my company immediately. If I repeat myself I will call the security on you"

With tears in her eyes, she left my office to go and clear her desk.

She was the fifth secretary that has been fired since the past six months.

I layed my head on my desk. Gosh that's happening to me. Ever since I last saw her at the park I haven't been able to get her off my head. I can still remember the smile on her face when she was licking her ice cream. She looked cute. I can't remember the last time I thought of a girl like this apart from my fiancee.

The thought of his fancee brought a sharp pain to his chest.

After all my love I showered on her, she still went behind my back to sleep with my best friend. Her excuse being that I am always busy and I don't have time for her. For Christ sake didn't she know I am a very busy person before accepting to go into a relationship with me. Despite my tight schedule, I still squeeze out time to spend time with her. But what did she do. She threw my love away into the mud.

I shut my eyes, trying to shut out the memories from years back. The pain and hurt was too much.

I sighed.

"No woman deserves my love"

Few weeks after

"Mr. Ken am so happy you decided to honour my invitation. You don't know what this means to me"

"After reading your proposal, I decided to give it a try. It looks like what will bring profit and I am always open to business that yield profit" I said.

"Thank you once again. On behalf of Kingsway Co. Ltd I say thank you"

"Aren't you going to offer me anything" Ken asked looking around.

"Ohh, am sorry. Forgive my impudence, what would you want sir"

"Coffee will be nice"

"Okay sir"

The man picked up the intercom. "Yes, get me a cup of coffee right now. Be fast"

He turned to Ken. "Just a minute sir, your coffee will be here soon"

Ken nodded his head.

Seconds later, the door opened and a lady walked in with a cup of coffee.

"Here is the coffee sir" she said handing it to him.

Ken turned and right in front of him is Lisa.

Out of shock, the cup fell from Lisa's hands and spilled coffee everywhere.

"Are you stupid" the man shouted.

"Am sorry sir" she said trying to pick up the broken pieces of the cup.

Ken watched as Lisa frantically tried to pick up the broken pieces of cup.

"Do you know who you just spilled coffee on. Always clumsy. I only decided to employ you because you were pregnant"

"Enough" Ken said to the man.

He turned to Lisa. "Are you okay"

"Uhm sir do you know her" the man asked looking shocked.

"That is not the way to talk to my woman"

What?! Not only was the man shocked, Lisa was shocked too.

Did he just say "my woman"

"But sir........"

"This meeting is over" Ken cut him off.

He pulled Lisa from the ground. "Let's go"

Almost at the door, he stopped and turned to the man.

"And the contract is over too" he said and walked out the door holding a confused Lisa in his arms.

When they got into the car, Lisa couldn't hold it in anymore.

"What was that all about"

"That doesn't sound like a thank you"

"Why should I thank you. Do you realize you just got me fired from my job"

"Why the heck are you working. Is the N100, 000 I send to you weekly not enough? Should I increase it"

"It isn't about increasing it. I just wanted to find something doing instead of lazing around doing nothing"

"And why didn't you discuss it with me. At least as the father of the child, I have a right to know"

"Are you kidding me. Aren't you the one that said I shouldn't bother you anymore as far as you fulfill your promise. So why are you acting concerned all of a sudden"

He looked at her. She is right. Why am he acting concerned?

"Stop working" he said abruptly.

Lisa looked at him like he has gone nuts.

"look Mr. Man you can't tell me what to do and what not to do. You don't own me"

"As the father of that child, I am ordering you not to work for anyone again"

This is it. Lisa was already angry.

"Look here you jerk, who do you think you are to boss me around like I am your slave. I may be carrying your child but that doesn't mean I am your wife. So don't control my life and tell me shit. Just keep sending the money and when I put to bed, I will disappear"

She opened the car door.

"What are you doing" Ken asked.

"Are you blind. Obviously I am going home"

She slammed the door, flagged down a taxi and left.

Ken just sat in the car.

Why am I worrying myself with this issue. It is her life. If she wants to work for the whole nation, let her do so, I don't care.
