Chapter 2

Mrs Gold looked at her daughter for awhile before answering the panel that was before her. To be truthful, I cannot even explain what is happening to my daughter. She returned from school yesterday and told me the same thing, I had to call my husband too to tell him what patience was saying; he even called her this morning to confirm for himself and he got the same reply. This is serious Mrs Gold, but one thing I must  tell you is this: don't be afraid, I have witnessed a similar situation before; where child told his class teacher to change his name that he has another name for himself, he went home telling his friends that he has a new name even before his parents returned from work.  Mummy patience, children name themselves, I'm talking from the experiences I have had. Some children even name themselves from their mother's womb. So this is not new to me. The head teacher explained. The entire staff were surprised while Mrs Gold was just staring at her daughter.  So what do you have to say madam, the head teacher asked Mrs Gold. Ma, I think you should change the name. So that I'll have peace and things can go well here; in school. Because from the way I'm seeing her now she won't respond to anyone if she isn't called Sarah. Okay ma, thanks for your time. So little girl, your name is Sarah Gold. The head teacher announced. Yeah yeah yeah, patience shouted with joy and ran to her class. Her mother was standing like who was in a dream. She was taken aback when the head teacher thanked her again for coming over. Mrs Gold got home that day more confused than she was. She couldn't do anything other than to sit down, stand up and walk around the house. Her greatest fear was telling her husband about has happened. But before her daughter returned from school, she took courage and called her husband, she explained everything to him as she was told by their daughter's class room teacher and the decision they took at the end of the discussion. Mr Gold was not happy at first, he wasn't happy for the fact that his wife took the decision alone but all along he considered it good because the child was both theirs. Sarah returned from school that day with an unusual joy, she had never been so happy before. As she entered the house, she greeted her mother and started bringing all her books from her bag with so much excitement; a thing she has never done. Her mother thought she wanted to do her homework but she was wrong. Sarah was looking at the space her teacher erased and wrote her new name on. Mrs Gold became afraid, many thoughts ran through her mind as she watched her daughter, she thought of Sarah not being her child, maybe she was changed at birth at the community hospita.l
