Damian nevertheless seemed enchanting and stumbled after her in his drab evening gown. He squeezed her cool hand, circled her slender waist, and twirled her helplessly across the floor in his arms.
He smelled the perfume of her hair as she danced to the beat. After the dance, he complimented her on her beauty, her dancing, and thanked her for an unforgettable evening.
They then went to dinner. After dinner they strolled across the terrace, he held his breath, dazzled by the gleam of her boundless eyes, and began to poem, "I can never look at a dewdrop in a buttercup without seeing rays of love in the slips of your eyes."
"There's unity in you; your face and form is a blend of perfect lines and contours."
"In you is sameness; your features are exquisitely proportioned, sculpted as no sculptor could sculpt them."
"I think of God when I see you." He marvelled at the creation of such perfection.
"If, as he believed, harmony must give unity and sameness to each of its works in order to produce beauty, then he was before a living emblem of harmony and therefore of beauty."
"You're so beautiful, how deliciously feminine and provocative you're!"
"What incomparable fusion of form and colour in your divine features!"
"Your beauty is ecstasy and gives me intense pleasure."
"Your beauty is eternity looking at me in every image of you."
"Your beauty is inflamed heart that burns me in your eyes, which are one shadow more and one ray less."
"Your beauty is the soul enchanted. Films like luminous irregular rainbows in the memory of your image that I see even though I close my eyes."
"Your beauty is life when life reveals your face."
"Rose, your beauty is an ever-blooming garden and a host of angels in flight." He paused for a while.
Her cheeks filled with delicious blushes. He kept filling her with wonderful words, so tender and intense.
He pulled her into his masterful arms and pressed a kiss on her warm lips, sending extraordinary charms through her whole body, while his strong hands protected her from the roughness of the world.
She felt her love rising like a flame inside her. She felt her whole body tremble with excitement and ecstasy of the thrill that overtook her.
"Was that original?" she asked.
He smiled. "You just made me a poet like you. Of course, that was original."
"Mine wasn't original the day we met."
"What're you saying?"
"I plagiarised words from Carina Sanders. She's a writer, not a poet."
"Well, that doesn't change anything now."
Her lips met hers again. For a long moment she'd the taste of heaven on her mouth.
"I love you." she said.
She expected him to say it back to her, but he didn't. His silence made her angry and she pulled away from him.
"We've been together for months and you're still not sure of your feelings for me!"
"I'm sorry, in time I'll learn to love you."
"In time, you say. I don't have time."
At that moment he left her without saying a word, without thinking about his actions.
Damian started dating Judith, he met her on Facebook and brought her from New York to his home, where he got to know her. He found out that she was also a plastic surgeon, which led him to hire her as his assistant since he didn't have one.
Outside, it was drizzling as Damian drove the car. He steered the car through the occasional fog and climbed the winding roads in the high mountains.
"Call me and come home early after surgery," Judith said.
She wished she could join him in Beverly Hills, but she'd not been appointed one of the surgeons who'd to undergo difficult surgery in Beverly Hills; instead, it was Damian.
He met her at home in the kitchen washing dishes after the successful surgery, and instead of his usual greeting, he got a thick neck, "How could you be so late? Why didn't you call? What am I supposed to think?" cries Judith.
"I'm sorry. There was a lot of traffic on the bridge, sometimes life can't be the way you want it, you can't expect me to always be on time. You're a doctor too, so you should know that by now."
"Are you sure it was because of traffic, because practise ended at 6pm? I don't like it when you're late. It makes me mad. Your dinner is in the microwave. I'd appreciate it if you'd call me the next time you're running late."
"Hey babe, sorry..."
Judith chortled. "Oh, you forgot."
At that moment, he remembered that today was her birthday.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I forgot. I promise to make it up to you."
"How could you forget? When are you even going to remember? How am I supposed to trust you to make it up to me when you're always running around 24/7."
"I was really busy and I just forgot. That's just what happens sometimes."
"Really -"
At that moment, he just had to say the word, "I'm breaking up with you."
"What! You can't be serious!" said Judith, as a glass slipped from her hand, fell into the soapy water and broke.
"I'm. Please, I don't want to see you here tomorrow. I'll compensate you for your time."
