Chapter 3 Thirst for vengeance

Chapter Three

Hunter

Three years later

A puff from the lit blunt fogged my vision, casting smoke upon my lens and my eyes never strayed from the picture in front of me. I'm back at my office at Babel, the most efficient I've had in weeks. I took a sip from the whiskey and stood.

“Did you hear what I said, Hunter?” Savior asked. I turned my head toward the window, looking at the cloudless sky, and then fixed the man with a stare.

“We'll strike at dawn, just when he leaves the resort.”

"He'll most likely be with security. He might be a prey to you but he is the government's property also"

"I do not care about him or the government. He crossed a line, he must pay the consequence" I stood up, and Hugo and Savio slowly followed suit, assuming their places behind me. The meeting had been pleasant enough, but it was getting decidedly too long. I shook hands with the men gathered in the room and headed to the door. “I need him alive and brought into the tunnel?”

"You should see this," Hugo said, handing a brown medium size envelope. Bringing out the content, a guttural snicker left my throat. The series of attacks had been ceaseless—losing twelve of my men in seven days.

"Let me see," Savio said and I passed the pictures to him. The bodies are put on display for the first time and Savio's eyes widened. My fallen angels laying in eternal sleep "We were gone for just one week. How did you slums let this happen?" He barked, his fist coming onto the table in a heavy hit. His knuckles reddened.

"Who was in charge?" I asked, laughing a little around the seam of my wine bottle. They shrieked, aware of what would come next.

"You could take shit easy on them. The hit wasn't expected. We should focus more on X. We need the guys to take care of him" Savio intervened.

Take it easy on them? Between him and I, he knew I cannot do that. It was against everything we were taught, and everything I'd seen. Showing mercy means showing weakness and at Babel, there was never a weakness.

"X just arrived at the airport. He is on his way to the resort" Hugo said, his eyes still fixed on his screen.

"I want a clean mission," I said and stood. Savio did the same almost immediately, walking alongside me to the garage. I took my jacket off and undid another button on my black shirt. I was sitting in the back seat of the car, savoring the silence and the coolness of the conditioned air. “Home,” I growled at the driver, scrolling through the messages on my mobile. Most were business related, but one was from Cara. It read 'I'm wet!'. My penis stirred in my pants. I sighed, grabbing it through the fabric and squeezing hard.

'Be here in two hours, I replied, and sat back comfortably, observing the world outside the window as it whizzed by. I closed my eyes.

There she was again. My cock instantly grew hard as steel. God, I’ll go crazy if I don’t find her. It had been three years since I saw and had her. Three years of dreaming about a woman I seemed to know nothing about from one night of pleasure that birth three years of torture. I had met once and every day since that day, and she appeared in my vision. I could almost smell her hair, feel the smoothness of her skin—I could almost feel it. Each time I made love to Cara or any other woman, I made love to her. I named her my Rose for she was my scourge, my addiction, and apparently—my redemption.

Like an itch, she gave soothe and irked. Therefore she was my Rose. I had her to lose my mother. The memory is pure torture.

Hugo put down his phone and sent me a look.

“The guys from Russia are already at the resort. And our target is with them "

"Good, we'll head there as soon as we land.”

If you think poverty was a torture, then you haven't had the insane urge of revenge. The pain of seeing the man that killed my mother living freely like a bed was a mirror to the pain I felt from losing Rose forever. Until I make X feel every bit of pain my mother went through, I won't give him the freedom of death. I will make him beg for death.

Savio was talking and I listened to him intently, silently making a list of things that still needed tending to. Suddenly, it was like everything became dark, even though my eyes were wide open. I saw her. I blinked frantically. I’d only ever seen my Rose when I wanted to. My eyes widened, but she was already gone.

We were approaching my penthouse when I saw her again. Fucking hell, but that’s impossible! I stepped into the parked car and nearly pulled Savio inside when he opened the other door.

“It’s her,” I whispered, my throat tightening. I pointed at a girl marching down a walkway, away from us. “It’s the girl.” My head was spinning. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

“Slow down,” my best friend and second in command to the consortium said as we were closing in on the girl. “Holy shit,” he breathed as we caught up with her. My heart skipped a beat. Her head turned; she was looking straight at me, not seeing me through the reflective window. Her eyes, nose, her lips… It was her— just like I’d dreamed. Just like I remembered. I reached for the handle, but Savio stopped me. A muscular man was calling over to my Rose, and she turned and started walking his way.

“Not now, Hunter.” I sat there, paralyzed. She was right there! She was real! I could have her, touch her. Take her with me and spend the rest of my life with her.

That's everything available right now.
