Chapter 1

1

After Simeon and I were reborn, we both knew what to do.

Without saying a word, we silently agreed to go our separate ways.

He went to the big city to chase after his first love, while I stayed in our small hometown.

Five years passed in the blink of an eye.

Using his knowledge from our past life, Simeon quickly became a rising star in his industry and won the heart of the prom queen.

Meanwhile, I stayed by my parents' side, living a quiet and stable life.

When we met again, he had his arm around the local beauty while puffing on a cigar.

He looked at my simple clothes and laughed with pure mockery.

"It's been five years, Mavis. Is this really the best you could do for yourself?"

I didn't even bother to respond.

Later, when a top-tier billionaire held me in his arms with the utmost devotion, Simeon lost his mind.

The man who always prided himself on being calm and collected was now a trembling mess.

"Mavis Thorne! How could you marry another man?!"

......

I saw Simeon again at our five-year high school reunion.

By the time I arrived, feeling a bit exhausted from work, the room was already filled with laughter and teasing.

"Simeon, you dog! You actually bagged the prom queen," someone shouted.

"Of course he did! Mr. Yale is a big shot in the city now. He's not like us common folk."

"But wait, I remember back in the day, you and Mavis were..."

My hand paused on the doorknob.

"You two were always studying together. Everyone thought you were a couple. Simeon, aren't you afraid the prom queen will get jealous?"

At that moment, I heard a familiar voice speak in a casual, indifferent tone.

"We were just classmates. Don't make such tasteless jokes."

I smiled faintly. It had been five years since our rebirth.

I no longer felt any emotion toward his words, so I pushed the door open calmly.

Even though it had been a long time, I recognized Simeon instantly.

He was sitting on the sofa, a cigar between his lips, with Sienna Monroe leaning against his chest.

Almost everyone in the room was crowded around them, treating them like royalty.

The moment I stepped in, every eye turned toward me.

The class president greeted me with his usual warmth.

"Look who it is! Mavis, you finally made it!"

Hearing my name, Simeon looked up. Our eyes met.

He kept his arm around Sienna, his gaze flickering with a hint of playfulness.

When he took in my appearance, a flash of disdain crossed his eyes.

I had left home in a hurry today, and because I was pregnant, I hadn't put on any makeup.

My clothes were simple and loose, making me look a bit haggard compared to the others.

Sienna, on the other hand, was incredibly polished.

She was dressed in a high-end designer suit, clutching a luxury handbag, with a full face of perfect makeup.

She looked like a woman who had been pampered and protected.

But I didn't feel anything about it.

I greeted them gracefully. "Long time no see."

Simeon gave a cold nod, barely acknowledging me. Sienna just offered a shallow smile, not even looking me in the eye.

Naturally, I wasn't going to waste my energy on them.

I turned around and walked over to a few classmates I was actually close with.

"We're just waiting for Jenson now," the class president said.

"He just texted. He said we should start without him; he'll be a bit late."

Everyone gathered around the long dining table. Most of them were busy toasting Simeon and Sienna.

Their words were thick with flattery, elevating Simeon to the status of a god.

After a few rounds of drinks, I excused myself to go to the restroom.

Just as I stepped out, I ran into Simeon. His face was flushed from the alcohol.

He looked at me with eyes full of irony.

"Mavis, in the five years since you left me, is this really how you ended up?"
