Chapter 3 Hazel

_02_

Hex was groaning, he was not just only angry at the students but at Herzl. He blamed Herzl for bring weak and stupid, for fearing and choosing other people's hateful words over his happiness.

Hex wished he could be separated from Herzl, not for any other reasons but to teach people who look down on them a bitter lesson. Hex understands Herzl predicament so well but still blame him for choosing to be weak.

"I know I failed you again, Hex. But this is the least to my capacity, no one wants me alive. Fighting back only means death for both of us and you know this." Herzl muttered as he continue coughing out slowly.

Hex was too annoyed to reply but he knows he can't forsake Herzl, at least not now when Herzl needed him the most.

"Hex, are you listening? I know I'm wrong for choosing to be a pawn in everyone's pleasurable game but..."

Hex cut him short with a snort. "I know and on second thought, I don't blame you..." Hex sounded like his voice trailed off. Herzl sigh in relief, he thought his wolf was angry with him.

But he is still having a problem. Yes, wolf has the ability to heal faster but he notice his own healing is taking much time than expected which was weird.

"Don't worry, you will be fine. Its just a matter of time." Hex cajoled as he notice Herzl source of sadness...

•••••••

Herzl joined the class not after the lunch break was over, he managed to curled himself at the school janitor's little space during the long lunch break. He knows what's in store for him if the students finds him in the field where he was bullied earlier.

Just few minutes for the school bell to be rang, Herzl carefully sneaked out of the class before any one was able to notice.

When he got to the forest path he normally use as his own route when going home, he pulled his clothing and transformed to his wolf form.

The silver wolf was large but not as the alpha's wolf, though it nearly since he is having the previous beta's blood in him. Who knows if his father wasn't a rogue and an outcast, he might be the next beta?

Hex gave out a loud howled as he was happy to sniff in the fresh air mixed with the scent of the rustled woods as he raced through them. This has been a normal routine for Herzl since he turn eighteen and racing through the woods in his wolf form has always been his only source of happiness.

Few feet to his home, he transformed to his human form and put his clothing back on.

"Where is that good for nothing slave, eh? Is he not suppose to be at the alpha's household by now?" Herzl heard his grandmother's angry voice. His heart skipped a bit as he hasten his footsteps.

"The only thing he is good at is dragging our good name in the mood." His grandfather's harsh voice followed suit.

With thumping heart, he opened the front door and walked in.

"Eh, here comes the slave." His grandmother hissed in anger as she clapped her hands together, dramatically.

"Don't tell me you are just coming, aren't you suppose to be at the alpha's households?" His grandfather thundered.

"But we've barely closed from school, I sneaked out to be home early." Herzl tried defending himself but he only get a slap in return.

"And you sense didn't tell to rush to the alpha's households before coming here?" His grandmother seethes as she glared hells at him, she has always been an angry bird.

"I'm sorry, I'll get going now..." He mumbled as he drop his back pack and rushed out with out waiting on their response.

Had it been he was at the school cafeteria earlier today, he would have overhead the students talking about the welcoming party that would be held at the alpha's household tonight.

And his duty is to tidy up the huge hall and make sure everything in the alpha's households are in order —especially when it comes to cleaning.

"Why are you just coming, huh?" The pack's Luna glared hard at him.

"I'm sorry, ma..." He bowed in apology.

The Luna hissed. "Go clean the hall and you shouldn't waste much time doing that." She ordered, she was being nice today cause of the mood she was in.

Herzl nodded curtly and scurried away to the hall. Cobwebs was every where mixed with thick dust, he wondered how all those got there. Every month, he always clean the hall for no reason yet it was still covered with dirt.

He started cleaning immediately with out any body's help. His body ache badly but he dare not stop working since he knows the consequence of it if he does.

It was almost late in the evening before he was done. By then, some people had started trooping into the hall. Most scowled at him while others ignored him like a plague.

He limped out of the hall due to his aching and tired bones and stopped at the basement to take a few minutes rest. Soon, he dozed off with out him realizing.

"But the welcoming party is not really necessary, dad." Hazel pouted at her dad. "Not that I'm a stranger here, this is my homeland."

"Its more than necessary and every one in the pack knows that. You've been away for ten years now, why shouldn't we celebrate your return?" Alpha Rynd countered.

"Not that I was missing..." She scoffs irritatedly. "I only leave to study and..."

Her father cut her shut with a snort. "Enough of this talk, young lady. Go prepare for your welcome party, you might be lucky to get a mate at the party today." Alpha Rynd said with finality before walking out of his daughter's room.

Hazel frowned at the mention of mate from her father. Yes, she has always hated the word mate with passion.

Why?

Not for any other reason but for her to be free, she does not want to be mate with some one for life. She always want to live her life freely with out being tied to any one, all in the name of mate. She wish the moon goddess has a better plan for her rather than giving her a mate.

Reluctantly, she strutted into her bathroom and had a nice warm bath. She applied olive oil on her white pale skin, making it shine brightly.

At the age of eighteen, she possess more beauty and feature much more than her age. Her brown wavy hair and Hazel eyes added more to her beauty as it matched her pale skin.

Putting on a purple royal robe, she tied her hair up in a bun with a fancy hair rope. She love royalty but heart freedom from duty and mate more.

With one last look of her gorgeous and irresistible self at the huge mirror, she was more confident at her appearance. She only hope she never find a mate at the party as her father had predicted earlier....

That's everything available right now.
