Chapter 2

2.

Just as I was thinking, I heard a commotion outside.

Suddenly, my bedroom door was slammed open.

A basketball flew in without warning and smashed heavily onto my head.

Bang.

"Hey, you stray dog from the sticks. Pick up my ball."

An arrogant, unruly voice sounded behind me.

I turned around slowly.

A boy about my age, but much taller, stood there.

He held his chin high, looking down at me with disdain.

If I remember correctly, this is Rocco Moretti, the sole heir of the family.

He loved street racing, skydiving, and extreme sports.

He was the typical mob prince―lazy, reckless, and completely uninterested in the family business.

In my past life, he got into an accident during an illegal drag race.

He ended up paralyzed from the waist down, confined to a wheelchair for life.

His temper became violently abusive after that.

"Hey, why are you just standing there? Are you deaf?"

His impatient voice rang in my ear.

I snapped back to reality, picked up the basketball, and handed it to him.

Remembering the driver's warnings, I spoke softly. "Rocco, here you go."

He paused for a second, then scoffed.

"Wow, you really know how to suck up. You don't think acting nice will get you a piece of the Moretti inheritance, do you?"

He laughed mockingly and walked away.

over the next few days, I rarely saw Mrs. Moretti, and Rocco was like a ghost.

The butler showed me every corner of the estate.

The villa was shockingly huge.

After the tour, he handed me a schedule.

It was packed tight with business management and finance classes.

"This is your schedule. Starting tomorrow, you will receive one-on-one training for family business management. The Madam has arranged everything. You just need to study hard, and you will be rewarded in the future."

"Can you handle it?"

In my past life, I only started learning these things when I launched my startup.

In this life, I get to learn them systematically at fifteen.

Of course I was happy. I nodded immediately. "Absolutely."

The butler looked surprised but said nothing, continuing to explain the household rules.

Mrs. Moretti hired private tutors so I wouldn't fall behind on my high school curriculum.

But I had already mastered that knowledge in my previous life. It was a piece of cake.

Within a year, I had absorbed all the knowledge and learned to apply it.

"This child's learning ability is terrifying. She hasn't just mastered high school subjects; she's keeping up with complex MBA-level case studies."

The tutor praised me endlessly in front of Mrs. Moretti.

I sat aside, listening quietly.

He looked excited. "At this rate, she doesn't need high school. She could apply directly to Wharton."

But that wasn't Mrs. Moretti's plan.

She wanted me to go to high school with Rocco and then go abroad with him.

She claimed it was so we could "look after each other."

In reality, she wanted me to babysit Rocco, the wild horse she couldn't tame.

Mrs. Moretti gave the teacher a thick bonus envelope, and the way she looked at me held a new level of approval.

"Come here."

She pulled me to sit beside her and handed me an admission letter.

"You've done well. Rocco's grades are trash. Help him out. I don't expect much, just don't let him get expelled."

"Once high school is over, I'll send you both abroad. How does that sound?"

Mrs. Moretti put her demands on the table without any sugarcoating.

I didn't hesitate. "Thank you, Madam."

She raised an eyebrow, clearly pleased, and squeezed my hand a little tighter.
