“Yes, Father. As it happens, I quite like Celeste too.”

I answered with a smile and walked over to sit beside her.

I had to admit, the woman had an overwhelming presence. The moment I sat down, a wave of cold air wrapped around me, and I didn't dare speak.

No wonder she'd made my brother's life such hell last time around.

I tried to listen for her thoughts, but her mind was completely silent.

However, when Tessa smiled at my brother, I caught a thought from her.

What a handsome little thing.

I shuddered from head to toe at that.

On pure instinct, I grabbed Celeste's wrist.

Her wrist was slender. She might be cold on the outside, but her hand was warm.

At my touch, she glanced over.

I let go of her at once. Only then did she stay silent.

The woman might look terrifying.

But even with her, I'd rather be than with Tessa, that snake.

This life, I was going to change my miserable fate.

I would make my own money. Stand on my own two feet. Lean on no one.
