Chapter 3
3
What Jasper didn't know was that this was a new house.
I had installed several security cameras for safety.
Every single second of their little "back-scrubbing" show had been recorded in high definition.
I pulled up the footage on my laptop and saved every clip.
If Jasper tried to play the victim or ruin my reputation, I'd blast him all over the internet.
Then, I remembered something important. I still had him on my family credit card plan.
I opened the app and revoked his access immediately.
Let's see how he pays for a fancy hotel for his little sweetheart now.
Not even five minutes later, my phone started buzzing.
It was Jasper, sounding like a wounded animal.
"Why did you cut off my card?"
"Lyra, I didn't realize you were this malicious! You know I left in a hurry and don't have any cash on me. Are you trying to kill us? You just want me to crawl back and apologize first, don't you? Fine! I'm sorry! Happy now? Marrying a woman like you is a total curse!"
I listened to his threatening tone and simply muted the phone. I didn't say a word.
A minute later, he couldn't take the silence anymore.
"It's the first night of our engagement and you kicked us out! If my parents and relatives find out, this wedding is off!"
I crunched on a handful of chips and spoke into the phone with a full mouth.
"Hello? Is this a telemarketer? Sorry, I'm not interested in buying any insurance today."
Then I hung up.
He still thought he could marry into my life? He had no idea what was coming.
Bringing another woman into our home on our engagement night... he really thought I'd just swallow that insult.
Even a peace-loving person has a limit. Now that he was broke, I knew he'd try something else.
Right after I blocked him on WhatsApp, I got a message from my mom.
"Lyra, honey, what's going on? Jasper said you guys had a fight. Couples argue all the time, you shouldn't have kicked him out like that."
I called her immediately.
My mom is a total pushover. She's too kind for her own good and can never tell when people are using her.
With her, I had to play the drama card.
I started sobbing into the phone, making sure I sounded completely heartbroken.
"Mom, you have no idea. On our very first night, he brought that girl home. They were in the shower together, scrubbing each other... they were barely wearing anything! It was so humiliating."
As I cried, I sent her the video clips I'd saved.
My mom's tone flipped in a heartbeat. She was furious.
"That ungrateful jerk! He told me you were just being jealous over nothing. I can't believe he had another woman in your house. He's a snake! Our family has helped him so much, and this is how he treats you? Lyra, don't worry. If you want to call it off, nobody is going to stop you!"
I sniffled and thanked her.
But I knew Jasper wouldn't give up on a wealthy heiress like me that easily.
The real show was just beginning.
The next morning, I slept in late. I was just about to order some brunch when I realized I had company.
I walked into the living room to see Jasper busy in the kitchen, with Yvonne wearing an apron right next to him.
My vision went blurry with rage.
"How the hell did you get back in here?! Get out of my house right now!"
That's everything available right now.
