Chapter 2

2.

The day I was discharged was my birthday. Seraphina came to pick me up personally and threw a grand birthday banquet in the pack hall.

The hall was draped with crystal chandeliers and flowers. She stayed by my side the whole time, pinning a Moonstone brooch―symbolizing the status of Luna―onto my chest.

It drew countless envious gazes.

But I only felt that brooch weighing on my chest like a mountain.

Was she doing this out of guilt? Or did she think that with a little coaxing, I would forget all the pain?

Halfway through, I couldn't breathe. I got up to go to the restroom.

Just as I turned the corner in the hallway, Julian blocked my path.

"Well, well. Isn't this the happiest man of the night, Mr. Liam?"

He leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his face full of mockery.

I didn't want to engage. I turned to leave, but he stepped forward quickly to block me.

"Seraphina values you so much. Hosting a party, giving you such a precious gem. You must be proud, huh?"

"But last time you called the cops to send me to court, didn't she make you sign a waiver to bail me out?"

"Do you know how obsessed Sera is with me? During my heat, we tried everything. And you? You're just a pathetic worm with no wolf blood, clinging to her side shamelessly. What do you have to compare with me?"

These words were like poisoned dull knives, repeatedly slicing my already shattered heart.

My face was pale. I just wanted to leave.

But he wouldn't let it go. He suddenly grabbed my hand.

"Since you refuse a toast, you'll drink a forfeit! Since you don't know your place, I'll teach you another lesson!"

"You got lucky last time. Let's see if your luck holds out!"

As soon as he finished speaking, two burly female werewolves in black leather stepped out of the shadows. They grabbed me, one on each side, and dragged me into the penthouse suite without a word!

I struggled in terror, but human strength was negligible against werewolves.

Julian’s eyes were vicious and triumphant. "Liam, since Sera likes you, I'll ruin you completely! I'll let her see with her own eyes how disgusting you are!"

A muscular female wolf walked toward the bed with a lecherous grin. I struggled desperately, despair drowning me like a tidal wave.

Julian even took out his phone to record it!

Just as that disgusting hand was about to touch my clothes, BANG! The suite door was kicked open!

Seraphina rushed in like an enraged lioness, radiating terrifying Alpha aggression.

She saw me pinned on the bed, clothes disheveled. Her eyes nearly split with rage. With a standard wolf combat move, she instantly slammed the approaching female wolf into the ground. The woman passed out before she could even scream.

"Liam!" She rushed over, untied me, and pulled my trembling body into her arms. "Don't be afraid! I'm here! It's okay now..."

The fear of surviving a disaster and the massive grievance broke the dam. I wept in her arms.

She helped me up, carefully wrapping me in her jacket, preparing to leave.

As we passed Julian, she stopped. Her eyes were ice-cold. "Julian! In the past, I tolerated your tantrums for the sake of old times. But you dared to use such dirty methods!"

"If anything happened to Liam today, I would have executed you according to pack law!"

Julian, frightened by the naked killing intent in her eyes, took half a step back. Then, as if stung, he screamed shrilly.

"Execute me?! Does growing up together mean less than these few years with him?"

"Fine! Seraphina, since you want my life, I'll give it back to you right now!"

Before anyone could react, he suddenly sprinted toward the open floor-to-ceiling window and jumped without hesitation!

"Julian―!"

Seraphina’s face went white as a sheet. Instinctively, she dropped me and bolted toward the window like a lightning bolt.

I was thrown onto the cold, hard floor, a sharp pain shooting through my ankle.

I struggled to crawl to the window, only to see Seraphina sprinting downstairs like a madwoman. She scooped up the bloodied Julian, jumped into her off-road vehicle, and sped away.

The engine roared furiously as they disappeared into the distance. From start to finish, she didn't look at me once.

I sat paralyzed on the cold floor, watching the direction the car had vanished. My chest was filled with boundless cold and silence.

Finally, I limped back to that so-called "home" alone.

Before I could even catch my breath, Seraphina returned.

She stormed in and grabbed my wrist, her grip strong enough to crush my bones.

"Julian ruptured his kidney in the fall. It triggered a severe rejection reaction. You are the only match in the entire city!"

"No! I won't donate! Seraphina, you're crazy! Why should I save him?"

I screamed, breaking down, trying desperately to shake her off. Tears streamed down my face.

She gripped my arm tighter, her eyes paranoid and pleading.

"Liam! I'm begging you! Julian jumped because of what I said. I can't watch him die! He's still young! You're a human; donating one kidney won't affect you much. I'll get the best doctors to help you recover. I'll make it up to you double, okay?"

"No! I'm not willing! Kill me, but I won't donate!"

I fought back hysterically. But in the face of absolute Alpha strength, everything was futile.

She dragged me into the operating room and pinned me onto the table!

"Seraphina! I hate you! I hate you!!"

My screams were my last conscious thought before the anesthesia took over.
