Chapter 3

3

Dustin’s condo was located in the bustling downtown core of Chicago.

Coming from an impoverished background, there was no way Dustin could afford to buy it outright.

As I slipped on house slippers, I remarked casually, “Nice place you picked.”

“It is alright,” Dustin replied smugly. “Cost over two million, paid in full.”

Everything clicked.

Two months ago, Camille withdrew nearly three million dollars from the company accounts, claiming she was buying a house for her parents.

Later, she claimed the remodeling was too troublesome and canceled the purchase.

I felt bad about the hardship she endured growing up, so while she focused on her career, I took care of everything at home.

Watching her bustled around the kitchen with Dustin, they looked like a loving, devoted couple.

I was nothing more than an awkward guest.

Silently, I put my shoes back on and walked out the front door.

Things had reached this point; there was nothing left to hold onto.

Back at our home, I packed my personal belongings.

I placed the divorce agreement I drafted months ago on the desk in the study and sent Camille a text.

“I have some business out of town. Please sign the papers when you get back.”

That's everything available right now.
