Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I was born with a blessed, ultra-fertile womb, while my elder sister was gifted with irresistible, lethal allure.

To appease the dragon clan, we were both sent away as tribute brides.

In our past life, my sister married the firstborn dragon prince, Theron, while I was wed to the second prince, Darius.

Theron tortured my sister endlessly when she failed to conceive, eventually mutilating her face and throwing her into a pit of vipers.

Meanwhile, Darius lusted after my sister. Driven mad by unrequited obsession, he ran a sword straight through my chest.

As I lay dying, he ripped my newborn dragon whelp from my arms and smashed the baby to pieces before my eyes.

When I opened my eyes again, we were back on the day of the tribute procession.

My sister stepped into my bridal carriage with a sly smile. "Little sister, let us switch places this time."

...

After the great war between humans and beastkin, the dragon clan ruled the continent, while humans were reduced to persecuted vassals.

To keep the peace, my sister and I were commanded by the Human Empress to marry into the royal dragon lineage.

In our past life, my gorgeous sister married Theron.

Yet Theron cared nothing for beauty; he only grew resentful when she failed to bear him an heir after a full year.

He tormented her relentlessly, and on the very day I gave birth to my child, he threw her to the vipers.

Darius, consumed by his desire for my sister, vented his frustration on me every single day.

Even though I gave him a healthy dragon whelp, his hatred toward me only deepened.

"It is your fault I never got to have Danica!" Darius had snarled. "Now that she is dead, you will die with her!"

With those words, he shoved his blade through my heart.

As the life drained from me, Darius held my baby high above his head and threw him down onto the cold stone.

Crimson blood stained the chamber floor, and I died in sheer agony and despair.

I never imagined that opening my eyes would bring me right back to the day of our departure.

This time, my sister drew back the curtain of my carriage and climbed inside.

"Little sister, shall we swap our husbands in this life?"

The moment she spoke, I knew she had returned from the dead just like me.

In our past life, we had both chosen the wrong men and failed our Empress's secret mission.

Now that we had a second chance, we were determined to bring the arrogant dragon clan down to their knees.

I nodded firmly and traded carriages with her.

Before parting ways, we exchanged vital intelligence.

Theron cared only for lineage and heirs, while Darius was driven entirely by lust.

With one shared glance, our eyes gleamed with fierce resolve.

The bridal procession traveled with thunderous drums and horns, escorting us into the towering dragon palace.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, I watched a pair of pristine white boots approach, my heart pounding slightly.

A pale, slender hand lifted my bridal veil, revealing a breathtakingly handsome face that was devoid of any warmth.

"Are you the human bride my father arranged for me, Danica?"

Theron looked down at me with cold mockery. "They claimed the eldest daughter of the Hale clan was an unmatched beauty, yet you look rather plain."

"You are merely an offering to appease my clan, and beauty means nothing to me," he continued coldly. "If you do not bear me a dragon whelp within a year, I will slit your throat myself."

His long fingers tightened around my neck, as if ready to snap it in an instant.

Remembering my sister's gruesome death, I knew firsthand how cruel this beast truly was.

Hiding the hatred in my eyes, I reached up, wrapped my arms around his neck, and pulled him down beneath me.

"Your Highness may not know, but while I am no great beauty, my body is uniquely blessed," I whispered against his skin. "Give me six months, not a year, and I guarantee you a pureblooded heir."

Before he could reply, I pulled his massive dragon tail around my waist.

After a turbulent night, Theron and I, along with my sister and Darius, headed to the grand hall to pay respects to the Dragon Sovereign.

Halfway there, we ran into my sister and Darius rushing over.

My sister gave me a subtle glance, then leaned limply against Darius like a delicate blossom.

"Husband, look," she purred softly. "Yesterday you claimed my sister Danica was far more stunning than me, but do you truly think I pale in comparison to her?"

Her sultry voice made Darius's gaze snap toward me, a sneer curling on his lips.

"The humans boast that the eldest Hale daughter is a legendary beauty, yet she does not hold half the charm of my sweet Cassia."
