Chapter 1

My adopted father was dying. His last wish was to see me perform the traditional art of shadow puppetry, a heritage craft, on national television.

I waited outside the TV station for a day and a night, only to be told that my segment had been cut and replaced by my wife's junior colleague, a guy who could only sing, dance, and rap.

My father passed away, disappointed. I was devastated.

But my wife just blamed me for not being a team player.

"That old-fashioned stuff is for the last century. I did it for the ratings!"

"Besides, your stupid shadow puppets are nowhere near as exciting as a rap performance."
