Chapter 1 The Heat Before The Storme
"Fuck harder, oh yes, harder," Ivy moaned out in pleasure as Danny worked his finger in and out of her cunt hard and fast, the afternoon sun baking their skin to their skin tan.
Danny worked his finger even harder into the pussy not being one to turn down his master's orders.
She was lying on a pool bed outside the mansion,on her back with her legs apart and as Danny finger fucked her love hole,he slowly started taking his head down to her neck.
The words tore from her throat, raw and unfiltered, carried away on the warm, scented breeze that drifted across the sprawling grounds of the Sterling estate. Ivy lay sprawled across the luxurious teak-and-canvas pool lounger, the white silk coverlet tangled loosely around her hips, her skin glowing golden beneath the relentless New York summer sun. The air was thick with heat, heavy with the sweet perfume of jasmine and rose bushes that lined the manicured garden, and charged with a tension that had nothing to do with the weather and everything to do with the man standing between her spread legs, his hand working steadily, relentlessly, inside her, driving her higher with every measured stroke.
Danny did exactly as she demanded. He always did. Not out of servitude, though the world would always assume that was the nature of their relationship-she, the billionaire heiress, untouchable and exalted; he, the trusted aide, the scholarship boy her father had pulled from obscurity, the man who existed in the shadows of her glory. But out here, in the seclusion of the garden behind towering hedges and locked iron gates, none of those labels mattered. Out here, he was hers. Completely, unapologetically, and with a hunger that matched her own perfectly.
His fingers moved with practiced, devastating skill-long, sure strokes that brushed that sensitive, aching spot deep inside her again and again, each thrust harder, deeper, faster than the last, until Ivy was gasping, arching, her fingers digging into his broad shoulders, her nails dragging lightly over his warm, sun-kissed skin. She wore nothing beneath the thin silk that had slipped down to her waist, and he stood above her, fully clothed in dark trousers and an open-collared shirt that had long since been discarded and draped over a nearby chair, his powerful frame casting a shadow over her glistening body, his dark eyes locked on hers, burning with a heat that equaled the sun above them.
"That's it," she gasped, her head falling back against the cushion, her throat bared, pulse fluttering wildly beneath delicate skin. "Just like that... don't you dare stop, Danny... don't you dare..."
"Never," he murmured, his voice rough and low, vibrating through her as he leaned closer, his free hand coming up to cup the back of her neck, his thumb brushing over her racing pulse. "I never stop until you're satisfied. Until you're falling apart beneath me. Isn't that right, my beautiful girl?"
"Yes..." she whimpered, hips bucking upward to meet his hand, greedy and unashamed. "Yes... oh God, yes..."
He increased the rhythm immediately, no hesitation, no mercy, giving her exactly what she had begged for-hard, fast, unrelenting pleasure that coiled tight and hot in the pit of her stomach, building higher and higher until she thought she might shatter completely. His fingers were slick now, moving effortlessly, driving her toward the edge with terrifying speed, and as he worked his hand inside her, he slowly lowered his head, his dark hair falling forward to brush her collarbone, his lips grazing the sensitive skin at the side of her neck, sending shivers cascading through her entire body.
Ivy shivered violently, her legs trembling around his waist, her breath coming in short, sharp, desperate gasps. She could feel his warm breath against her neck, could feel the heat of his body so close to hers, could smell that familiar, intoxicating scent-sandalwood, clean rain, and him-and it made everything sharper, brighter, more intense. The pleasure was blinding, overwhelming, and yet beneath it lay that familiar, aching sweetness, the quiet tenderness that terrified her more than any passion ever could. Because passion was easy. Passion was what they told themselves this was-stress relief, comfort, a secret indulgence between friends who had crossed a line one lonely night and never quite found their way back.
But the way he touched her... the way he looked at her... the way he kissed her skin as if she were something precious, something sacred, something worth protecting... that was not just passion. That was something far more dangerous.
"Look at me, Ivy," Danny commanded softly, his lips brushing her ear, his fingers never slowing, never easing, driving her upward still. "Open your eyes. Look at me when you come apart."
She forced her eyes open, her gaze locking with his, and in that moment, suspended between sun and shadow, between pleasure and something that felt terrifyingly like love, she saw everything he had never said. She saw devotion. She saw longing. She saw a depth of feeling that mirrored her own, and it terrified her more than anything else ever could. Because this was never supposed to be real. This was never supposed to be forever. He was forbidden. Completely, utterly, and irrevocably forbidden. Her family would never accept him. The world would laugh. They would call him a gold-digger, a climber, a man who had seduced the heiress to steal her fortune. And perhaps worst of all-she was already promised.
The thought flickered through her mind even as the pleasure crested, sweeping over her in a crashing wave that left her gasping, shaking, clinging to his shoulders as her body surrendered completely. She cried out his name, loud and clear, no longer caring who might hear, and Danny held her through it, his arm around her back, his hand still working gently to prolong the shivering aftershocks, his lips pressing soft, reverent kisses to her neck, her jaw, the corner of her mouth.
"Beautiful," he whispered against her skin, as she lay boneless and breathless beneath him. "So incredibly beautiful."
He withdrew his hand slowly, and immediately she missed the warmth, the closeness, the weight of him. But he did not pull away. He sank down onto the edge of the lounger beside her, gathering her into his arms, wrapping the silk around her trembling form, shielding her from the world even though they were still alone.
Ivy rested her head against his chest, listening to the strong, steady beat of his heart, feeling his arms tighten around her, and for a moment, she could almost believe. Almost believe that none of it mattered-the money, the name, the expectations, the engagement. Almost believe that they could simply be.
But reality was cruel, and it always returned.
"I have to go back soon," she said quietly, her voice thick with reluctance. "My parents will be expecting me. They're finalizing the arrangements today."
Danny was silent for a long moment, his hand stroking slowly up and down her back. "Do you want to go through with it?" he asked finally, his voice carefully neutral, though she could hear the tension beneath it. "The engagement. The wedding. The life they've chosen for you."
Ivy closed her eyes. She thought of Julian Hale-wealthy, handsome, impeccably bred. A perfect match, everyone said. Powerful families, united empires, a legacy secured. They said he was kind. They said he was charming. They said she would be happy. But she barely knew him. He had never made her feel the way Danny did. He had never looked at her as if she were the entire world. He had never touched her with such care, such passion, such quiet, unyielding devotion.
"It doesn't matter what I want," she whispered bitterly. "It never has. I'm the heiress, Danny. I'm the asset. I'm the bargaining chip. My father has spent years building this alliance. I cannot simply walk away. Not without losing everything. Not without destroying you."
Danny pulled back slightly, his hands coming up to cup her face, tilting her chin upward until she had no choice but to meet his gaze. "You will never destroy me," he said firmly. "And if you think I am afraid of your father, or his money, or the power he wields... then you have never truly seen me, Ivy. I do not fear him. I fear only one thing. Losing you."
Her heart twisted painfully in her chest. "Then why do we do this?" she whispered, tears pricking her eyes. "Why do we keep doing this to each other? When we both know how it ends?"
"Because I cannot stay away," he said simply. "Because whatever this is... whatever the cost... it is worth it. To me. Even if I can never have you. Even if I have to watch you walk down the aisle and marry another man. Even then... these moments with you are enough. For now."
He leaned in and kissed her then, soft and deep and achingly tender, a kiss that held promises and heartbreak in equal measure, a kiss that tasted of sunlight and salt and everything she had ever wanted but could never have. Ivy melted into him, her arms wrapping around his neck, her fingers tangling in his hair, and for a little while longer, she allowed herself to forget. To forget the engagement. To forget the family. To forget the impossible wall that stood between them.
But as their lips parted, as his forehead rested against hers, as they breathed the same warm summer air, the sound of a ringing phone cut through the quiet-shrill, insistent, coming from the pocket of his discarded jacket.
Danny pulled away with a sigh, reaching for it, and Ivy watched him, her heart still racing, her skin still burning from his touch. He glanced at the screen, and his expression shifted-from warmth to confusion, then to a strange, stunned stillness that made Ivy sit up, clutching the silk to her chest.
"Who is it?" she asked, a prickle of unease trickling down her spine.
Danny did not answer immediately. He stared at the screen as if he could not believe what he was seeing, then slowly, almost reluctantly, pressed the button to answer it. He put it on speakerphone, and Ivy held her breath, watching him, waiting.
A woman's voice came through the line-clear, elegant, familiar, and utterly impossible.
"Hello, Daniel," the voice said, smooth and composed. "Ivy is with you, I assume? Put her on speaker. There is something the two of you need to know. Something your father kept from both of you."
Ivy went cold all over. She knew that voice. She would know that voice anywhere. It belonged to her mother's older sister, her aunt who had died-twenty years ago. Declared dead, lost at sea, presumed gone forever.
But that was impossible.
Unless...
"Listen carefully," her aunt's voice continued, steady and grave, as if reading from a document. "The Sterling marriage contract is null and void. And more importantly... Ivy... Daniel... you are not who you think you are. You are not rivals. You are not forbidden. You are brother and sister."
The world seemed to tilt on its axis. The sun, the garden, the man beside her-everything blurred and darkened and shattered into a million pieces. Ivy stared at Danny. Danny stared back. And in that terrible, frozen moment, as the truth hung between them like a blade, Ivy realized with sickening clarity that the love she had thought was impossible was actually far, far worse.
It was unforgivable.
