Chapter 2 The Wolf Disappeared And I Woke Up
It told me that I would know what to do when the time came. And then the wolf disappeared, and I woke up. The next day, I told my father about my dream. He was alarmed, and he warned me to be careful. 'You must never return to the woods,' he said. 'Something dark and dangerous lurks there.' But I couldn't stay away. The dream had filled me with a sense of purpose, and I knew I had to return to the woods to find out what the wolf had meant. I waited until my father left for his next trip, and then I snuck out of the house and made my way to the woods. It was a dark and misty night, and the trees loomed over me like giants. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, but I forced myself to keep walking. And then, I saw it. Standing in the shadows, I saw the wolf from my dream. It looked at me, its eyes glowing in the darkness. 'I have been waiting for you,' it said. 'You are ready to face your challenge.' I didn't know what to say. I was filled with fear but also with a sense of purpose. "Do you want me to end the story?" Daniel asked the girl. "Is that what you're telling me?" The girl nodded, her eyes wide with anticipation. "Alright," Daniel said. "I'll tell you the end of the story, but first I need to ask you a question." The girl nodded, eager to hear what he had to say. "Do you believe in magic?" Daniel asked. The girl thought for a moment, and then she smiled. "I do," she said. "And I think you do, too." "I do," Daniel said, and his smile was as bright as the moon in the sky above. "And so, I'll tell you the end of the story." The girl sat back and listened as Daniel began to speak. "The boy, whom we shall call Daniel, faced his challenge and emerged victorious. He had faced his fears, and he had come out stronger on the other side. And the wolf, whom we shall call Luna, watched over him and guided him on his journey. Daniel and Luna became friends, and they protected the village together. And so, the darkness was kept at bay, as was the light.
The next day, Mary woke up feeling refreshed, as if she had slept for a thousand years. She looked at the rose on her nightstand and noticed something strange. It had begun to wilt, its petals turning brown and crumpling. She wondered what could have caused such a thing to happen overnight. Just then, she heard a knock at the door. "Mary, are you awake?" a voice called. It was Daniel, and he sounded concerned. Mary rushed to open the door, surprised to see him standing there. As Mary opened the door, she was startled by the sight of Daniel. His eyes were glowing, and his teeth were sharp and pointed. "Daniel, what's wrong?" she asked, a note of fear in her voice. Daniel smiled, his sharp teeth glinting in the light. "I have a secret to tell you," he said. "But you must promise not to be afraid." Mary hesitated, but something about Daniel's smile made her feel safe. "I promise," she said. "I am a werewolf," Daniel said, his voice a low growl. Mary's eyes widened in shock, but she remembered her promise not to be afraid. "That's... that's impossible," she stammered. "I've never heard of such a thing." Daniel smiled again, his eyes full of understanding. "It's true, though. I know it's hard to believe, but it's the truth. And I want to share this part of myself with you." Mary stood there, unsure what to say. Daniel reached out a hand and placed it on her shoulder.
"I know this is a lot to take in," Daniel said. "But I want you to know that I'm the same person I've always been. Nothing has changed except that you know the truth about me now." Mary took a deep breath and looked into Daniel's eyes. "I believe you," she said. "I'm not sure how, but I do." Daniel smiled, a look of relief on his face. "Thank you," he said. "I'm glad you understand." "But what about the rose?" Mary asked. "The rose is a symbol of our love," Daniel said. "And it blooms and wilts with the moon, just like me. When the moon is full, my power is at its peak. But when the moon is waning, my power fades. The rose reflects that cycle. That's why it wilted overnight." Mary's mind was spinning as she tried to make sense of everything she had just heard. She turned to look at the rose again, and it seemed to have stopped wilting. It sat there, regal and perfect, as if nothing had happened. "I understand now," she said. "I'm glad you do," Daniel said. "But I still have one more secret to share." "What is it?" Mary asked. "I have the ability to transform you into a werewolf, too," Daniel said. "But only if you want me to. It's a gift that I can give you if you choose to accept it." Mary was stunned. She had never considered such a possibility. "You mean, I could be like you?" she asked. Daniel nodded. "It's up to you," he said. "I would never force you to do anything you didn't want to do. "I need some time to think about this," Mary said. "I know it's a lot to take in, and I want to be sure I'm making the right decision." "Of course," Daniel said. "Take all the time you need. I'll be here when you're ready." And with that, he turned and left. Mary stood there, staring at the rose on her nightstand. She wasn't sure what to do, but she knew one thing for certain: her life would never be the same again.
