Chapter 1

Everyone in the tech department called Zane Rhodes a devoted husband.

Because of a deep-seated trauma from my past, I had never been able to be intimate with him.

Zane acted like he truly cared, even kneeling before me multiple times, swearing he would wait until I was ready.

He even went as far as telling the world he was basically asexual just to protect my reputation.

When he lacked the funds for his game development, I secretly used my hidden identity to bankroll his entire team.

But then, during an online meeting with his staff, I heard them teasing him.

"Captain was in such a rush to log off and unlock that door. Was Nadia really that good?"

Zane's laugh was reckless, as if he were still savoring the moment.

"She's wild and knows how to move. Way more exciting than being with your sister-in-law."

"Just make sure none of you let a word of this slip in front of her."

My heart plummeted into a dark abyss as I dialed a number I had kept saved for years.

"I'm ready to join the classified research unit. I want to serve the country."

The voice on the other end was ecstatic.

"Welcome aboard. I'll pick you up in three days."

"You will disappear from this world for five years."

The online meeting was still going on. Nadia Vance's moans leaked through the microphone Zane had forgotten to mute.

With a numb expression, I pulled up the surveillance feed for Zane's office.

On the screen, two bodies were intertwined like writhing maggots, devouring the last shards of my hope.

Zane looked like a beast, his face distorted with lust as he gripped Nadia's waist with a frantic intensity.

Heavy, ragged breathing echoed through the small office space.

I had never seen him this wild or this obsessed, as if he were possessed by a demon.

"Zane, I have a much better body than your wife, don't I?"

Zane's movements paused for a split second, and his expression turned cold.

He suddenly grabbed Nadia by her hair, pulling her head back so hard she hissed in pain.

"With the way you throw yourself around, you don't have the right to even be compared to Jade!"

A flicker of humiliation crossed Nadia's face.

"But you're still doing this with me…"

Zane cut her off. "You're just a toy. You show up when I need you."

"When I don't, you stay the hell away from me."

Despite his harsh words, his movements became even more violent.

He slammed into her repeatedly, treating her with zero tenderness.

I took a deep breath and dialed Zane's cell phone.

He stopped what he was doing, waited a few seconds to catch his breath, and glared at Nadia. "Shut up. Jade is calling."

He answered the phone, his voice instantly turning into a gentle whisper. "Hey, honey. Why are you calling me now? Aren't you supposed to be napping?"

I fought to keep my voice from shaking. "What are you doing?"

His voice remained steady, even carrying a hint of a smile. "I'm in a meeting. I'll send you a screenshot."

As he spoke, he moved to grab a screenshot of the meeting interface.

"Ah…"

He let out a sharp, stifled grunt, looking down to warn Nadia, who was still teasing him beneath the desk.

Nadia gave him a sultry smile and looked mockingly at the phone.

The screenshot Zane sent arrived a moment later, showing the meeting perfectly.

He had even specifically hovered the mouse over his own avatar to show he was the one speaking.

What a flawless performance.

If I hadn't heard his heavy gasps with my own ears.

If I hadn't seen that pale, writhing flesh with my own eyes.

I probably would have been fooled by him yet again.

"Honey, I'm really busy right now. Can I call you back in a bit?"

His struggle to hold back his panting was becoming more obvious.

I gave a faint "Mhm" and hung up immediately.

My stomach churned. I rushed to the bathroom, clutching my mouth, and doubled over as I gagged.

Our anniversary was only two days away. I had planned to finally give myself to him and tell him I was the secret benefactor behind his company.

I never expected him to give me this "gift" first.

Nadia Vance was the assistant he insisted on hiring last month, claiming she would handle the small stuff.

It turned out she was handling much more than just paperwork.
