Chapter 3
3.
I wiped my tears and took a deep breath. “Then I’ll get rid of the baby.”
“No.”
Aiden’s voice was chillingly cold. “I won’t let you do that.”
“Then what do you want?” I said, my voice trembling. “Tell me what the hell you want from me!”
Pain flashed in his eyes. “I want both of them. I want both of these children.”
I stared at him. “Are you insane?”
Before I could say more, Aiden turned and left.
The next day, a dozen bodyguards appeared around the mansion. He wouldn’t let me leave.
He took my iPhone, cutting me off from the outside world.
I didn’t understand―he had already claimed Claire’s child as his own.
Why was he so desperate to keep this child he clearly didn’t care about?
I was trapped there as my pregnancy moved past the three-month mark.
One day, the doorbell rang. It was Claire and her family, with movers.
Mrs. Sullivan sneered the moment she saw me. “Do they have no shame? Living here with a bastard in her belly, acting like she’s the lady of the house!” She patted Claire’s hand. “My poor daughter. She’s endured so much for Aiden.”
Mr. Sullivan cleared his throat, his eyes full of contempt for me. “Let’s not waste time. Claire, show them to your room.”
A group of people started carrying boxes and bags upstairs.
Soon, only Claire and I were left in the living room. She smiled triumphantly. “So what if you married him first? So what if this child isn’t his?” She caressed her stomach. “He still chose me.”
Seeing that disgusting smile, I snapped.
I slapped her with all my strength, even getting on top of her to hit her from both sides. Claire screamed from the floor.
It was Aiden, rushing back from outside, who finally pulled me off.
Claire had messed with the wrong woman.
A woman who was already dead inside had nothing left to fear.
Claire’s hysterical crying brought Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan downstairs.
Mrs. Sullivan glared at me. “I want her out of here immediately. How can Claire live with such a… a violent woman?” She grabbed Aiden’s arm. “If you don’t kick her out, I’m taking Claire home. The Sullivans can afford to raise one child. You can keep your bastard.”
Claire, nestled in Aiden’s arms, glanced up at me with a hidden smile.
Aiden was silent for a long time. Just as Mrs. Sullivan thought she had won.
He slowly let go of Claire and walked over to me. “I will not kick my wife out of her own home. Mrs. Sullivan, if you wish to take Claire back, please, be my guest.”
At that, Claire started wailing again.
In the end, Mr. Sullivan smoothed things over, and Claire stayed.
My room was moved from the master bedroom to a dark, cramped storage room downstairs.
Aiden said, “It’s just temporary. For the baby’s sake. I’ll move you back upstairs before you give birth.”
But I didn’t care where I lived anymore.
This unwanted child.
I had no intention of bringing him into this world to suffer.
That's everything available right now.
