After shaking off Silas, I put all my energy into investigating the truth of my past life.

Secretly buying a nearly bankrupt biotech company took a lot of effort, but it was a necessary move.

Dr. Miller started my conservative treatment.

Without Silas's interference, my body was actually stronger than it had been at this time in my previous life.

Vanessa still convinced my father to let Silas stay at our house.

One day, as I was coming home, Vanessa blocked my path.

"Summer, you've been going out a lot lately. Can your body handle it?" Her voice was full of fake worry.

"Besides, you aren't cooperating with the check-ups. Silas is so worried he hasn't slept in days."

I stopped and looked at her pathetic act.

In my last life, I was fooled by this performance a thousand times.

"Is Dr. Sterling worried about me, or are you worried that your spare heart will have issues?"

The color drained from her face instantly.

"Sister... how can you say that? I just... I just care about you..."

I took a step forward, and she instinctively backed away.

"Do you care about me, or do you care about my medical reports?"

"Vanessa, did you forget? When we were ten, who pushed me into the pool and gave me this heart condition in the first place?"

"No... I didn't..." she sobbed, denying it.

That innocent act was truly top-tier acting.

Too bad I wasn't the stupid little sister who would be tricked by a few words anymore.

"Enough!"

Silas's cold voice came from behind her.

He marched over and pulled Vanessa into his arms, his eyes filled with pity for her.

He turned to me, his tone icy. "Summer Quinn, you've gone too far. Apologize to Vanessa."

I laughed.

"Apologize?" I walked up to him. "For what?"

"For the fact that your sister is worried sick about you, for―"

"SLAP!"

I landed a hard blow across his face.

The crisp sound echoed through the living room.

Vanessa gasped, and Silas stood frozen in place.

Everyone was stunned.

I rubbed my slightly reddened palm.

"Dr. Sterling, remember your place. You are the Quinn family's doctor, not my sister's knight."
