Gavin Harrison came back from his business trip with a limited-edition designer figurine for his niece.

He completely forgot the custom-made fountain pen he had promised me.

I looked at his indifferent face and felt a hollow ache in my chest.

At the family dinner that night, I calmly announced I wanted a divorce.

The room went silent before exploding into chaos.

Everyone accused me of being dramatic and making a scene over nothing.

Gavin barked at me in front of everyone.

"Skylar is my niece, and she's just a kid. Why are you being so petty with her?"

My face remained calmer than it had ever been in our three years of marriage.

"We're getting a divorce, Gavin. After tonight, whatever happens between you and Skylar Harrison has nothing to do with me."
