Chapter 1

On our wedding anniversary, my wife organized a massive drone light show for her first love.

Under the glowing night sky, they held each other in a passionate embrace.

Someone recorded the scene and posted it online, where it instantly went viral as netizens gushed, "This is what true love looks like!"

I snapped a picture of our marriage certificate and dropped it into the comment section.

"If I wasn't being cuckolded right now, I'd probably find it romantic too."

001

The moment I posted our marriage certificate, the internet exploded.

"Holy crap! Bro, why haven't you filed for divorce yet? Are you waiting to build a whole golf course on your head?"

"I thought they were a picture-perfect couple, but they're just a cheating pair of scumbags! Disgusting!"

Jocelyn obviously hadn't noticed the firestorm online yet.

She called me with an indifferent tone. "I have to work late at the office tonight. I won't be coming home."

Through the receiver, I could clearly hear the crowd gasping and cheering at the drone light show in the background.

Yet she sounded entirely unapologetic. She always assumed that as long as she gave me a heads-up, I was obligated to swallow whatever she did.

In our living room, a bouquet of champagne roses and the Cartier watch she had been eyeing for months sat neatly on the coffee table.

I had personally cooked a full spread of her favorite gourmet dishes, reheating them three times while waiting for her.

I asked quietly, "Do you even remember what today is?"

Jocelyn huffed dismissively. "It's just an anniversary. We've been married for years, why do we need to make such a big deal out of it?"

How utterly ironic.

Just a few days ago, I was out of town on an exhausting business trip and hadn't planned on rushing back in time for our anniversary.

Jocelyn had thrown a massive fit, threatening divorce and claiming I didn't care about her.

She forced me to pull multiple all-nighters so I could catch a red-eye flight home.

Now, all my exhaustion and effort were wiped away by her careless brush-off.

I swallowed my anger and muttered, "Then I hope you and your golden boy have a fantastic night."

That single line instantly triggered her fury.

Her sharp voice blasted through the phone. "Garrett, are you out of your mind? I told you I'm working late!"

"Don't project your dirty thoughts onto me! I married you, I didn't sell myself to you. Don't I even have the freedom to breathe?"

I let out a flat laugh and sent her the viral video link.

"Is the light show pretty? For someone working late at the office, you sure look cozy locked in your ex-lover's arms."

"Congratulations, by the way. You and Hudson are trending everywhere now. You're both certified internet stars."

The line fell dead silent as she clicked through what I had sent.

A few moments later, her voice trembled with rage. "Take down that picture of the marriage certificate right now! If you want to humiliate yourself, don't drag me down with you!"

"Hudson finally returned from abroad. Am I not even allowed to welcome an old friend?"

"He has a huge overseas investment project and wanted to bring me in on the profit!"

"Do you see the difference between you two now? Hudson is building an international empire, while a useless man like you is stuck guarding your tiny corner of the world, obsessing over whether you're being cheated on! You won't ever measure up to him in this lifetime!"

Having gone days without proper sleep just to celebrate this day with her, I no longer had the energy to argue.

I took a deep breath and replied, "You're right. I can't compare to him."

"Let's get a divorce."
