Chapter 1
On my wedding day, my fiancé suddenly announced that he had already registered his marriage with my older sister.
The Voice in my head declared my mission a failure. Just as I was about to be erased in a fatal car accident, Nathan rushed out to save me.
He lost the use of his legs to keep me alive.
Later, the System gave me a second chance. I chose a new target for my mission―Nathan―and accepted his proposal.
But in the third year of our marriage, I accidentally overheard a conversation between him and his friend.
"Nathan, Serena already has her children now, and your legs have fully recovered. Aren't you going to tell Elena the truth?"
"I can't. Elena is still a liability. Only if she keeps feeling guilty for my legs will she stay away from Serena and stop ruining her happiness."
Hearing that familiar, cold voice, my tears wouldn't stop falling.
I finally realized that Nathan's salvation was a scam from the very beginning.
If that was the case, there was no reason for me to maintain this fake marriage any longer.

Just after landing, I clutched the experimental medicine I had worked so hard to get and ran toward the VIP lounge.
But as I reached the door, I overheard something unbelievable.
"I heard she went abroad herself to find that medicine for you. Isn't it a bit much that you sent people to stop her?"
"Elena is giving you her whole heart. What if she finds out one day…"
There was a moment of silence inside before Nathan spoke in an indifferent tone.
"I won't let her find out. Even if she does, the worst I'll have to do is spend the rest of my life making it up to her."
I looked down at the knife wound on my arm, sustained while protecting the medicine.
It turned out the people who tried to mug me before I boarded the plane were sent by Nathan.
Only now did I feel the burning pain from the wound where the blood had already dried.
The sensor door of the VIP lounge opened. Nathan rolled toward me in his wheelchair.
As he got closer, he sharply caught the scent of blood on me.
He looked panicked, nearly falling out of his chair in his haste to reach me.
He didn't seem to care about himself as he grabbed my hand to check it.
His voice was urgent. "Elena, are you okay? Where are you hurt?"
The concern in his eyes didn't look fake. His movements were as gentle as always.
But I couldn't feel a single drop of love from him anymore.
I quietly pulled my hand away. "It's nothing. Just an accident…"
Before I could finish, my vision went black.
After days of exhausting travel, my body finally gave out, and I fainted.
When I woke up, I was lying in Nathan's private lounge at the clinic.
The wound on my arm had been bandaged, but he was nowhere to be seen.
I sat up to grab my phone, and my eyes fell on a notebook on his desk.
I opened it and saw it was filled with Nathan's handwriting.
"Serena likes sour foods. Take her for a walk after dinner to help her digestion."
"Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Prenatal classes. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: Pregnancy yoga."
I steadied my trembling hands and kept flipping through the pages.
Everything was there, from every prenatal check-up to the smallest changes in her daily life.
The pages were cramped with hidden affection for Serena's pregnancy. It felt like a thousand needles stabbing my heart.
As a brother-in-law, he was doing a better job than Serena's actual husband.
I suddenly remembered five years ago, the day the System sentenced me to death.
Nathan had appeared out of nowhere, trading his legs for my life.
Back then, I was naive enough to think this man was my savior.
I never imagined that Nathan was the one who truly pushed me into the abyss.
His love, so great he would die for me, was just an act.
And I had been stupidly living in guilt, desperate to heal his legs.
The tears that fell washed away my last bit of lingering affection for him.
This fake marriage of five years needed to end right now.
The moment I closed my eyes and gave up, a cold, mechanical voice echoed in my mind.
"Host detected. Second mission failed. Do you choose to leave this world?"
I thought for a moment and nodded. "Yes. I choose to die in a car accident in three days."
