Chapter 3
3、
Yasmin let out a piercing shriek and rushed straight at me.
"Jenson Drake, you did that on purpose! How dare you pull this stunt right in front of the media!"
She frantically pulled out a silk handkerchief to wipe the alcohol off Harrison's face.
The pale yellow liquid dripped down his cheeks, completely ruining his styled hair and expensive suit.
Every single second of this drama was broadcasted live to millions of viewers, quickly turning into viral screenshots across social media.
Yasmin glared at me with pure venom.
"You uncultured piece of trash! Just you wait!"
I looked at her with pure indifference, turned on my heel, and walked out into the night.
The moment I stepped out of the venue, a torrential downpour slammed into the city.
I pulled out my private phone and called my family's chief assistant, telling him to send a car.
Watching the drenched pedestrians scurrying through the storm, my mind drifted back to years ago.
The first time I met Yasmin was also during a storm like this.
I didn't have an umbrella back then and was sheltering under a massive tree outside campus. She had just walked out of her dance studio.
She was the one who walked up to me with a bright smile.
"Hey, are you a student here too? Do you want to share my umbrella? This rain isn't stopping anytime soon."
Looking into her sparkling eyes, my heart had fluttered like crazy.
I thought fate had blessed me with a beautiful love story.
I completely forgot that there was no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
It wasn't until after our marriage that I discovered Yasmin had always loved someone else.
Her sole reason for marrying me was to make her first love jealous enough to return to the country.
I had comforted myself countless times.
We were legally married. As long as I treated her with unconditional devotion, she would eventually let go of the past.
Yet throughout our five years of marriage, she never truly cut ties with Harrison.
All along, I was the only clown performing in this one-sided tragedy.
My thoughts were interrupted as my assistant arrived.
He held a massive black umbrella over my head and bowed respectfully. "Young Master, the Chairman knows you're returning home tonight. A welcome banquet has already been prepared."
I glanced behind him at the row of armored Rolls-Royces lined up in the rain, flanked by two sharp rows of private bodyguards.
That was definitely my father's dramatic style.
Just as I stepped toward the car, a familiar voice echoed from behind.
Yasmin and Harrison walked out of the hall, arm in arm.
"Why did it suddenly pour? I hate rainy days. Harrison, did you bring an umbrella?"
Harrison's eyes locked onto me, and he pushed Yasmin forward with an oily smile.
"Jenson, you really thought of everything! Knowing it's raining, you prepared such a massive motorcade just to pick us up."
The entrance was currently mobbed by paparazzi and fans. With the slippery roads, private cabs couldn't get in, leaving the celebrities stranded.
My family's security team, however, completely walled off the reporters.
Not only was it entirely unobstructed, but the sheer luxury of the convoy was breathtaking.
Yasmin nodded with haughty satisfaction.
"Don't think this makes up for what you did earlier. You made Harrison look like a fool in front of the press, and I'll settle that score with you once we get home!"
"Still, seeing as you arranged such an extravagant surprise, I can pretend I never heard you say you were quitting."
With that, Yasmin lifted her designer gown and walked straight toward the lead car.
Harrison followed right behind her, grinning from ear to ear.
"This motorcade was prepared specifically for you by Jenson after all. Would it be inappropriate for me to hitch a ride?"
Yasmin glanced back at me with casual disregard.
"There are so many cars, one extra seat won't hurt. It's freezing out here, what if you catch a cold?"
"If worst comes to worst, Jenson can just call himself an Uber."
Yasmin reached out to pull open the car door, but my chief assistant stepped forward, blocking her with an icy glare.
"Jenson, what is the meaning of this?" Yasmin snapped.
I calmly slid into the plush leather seat and rolled down the window. "Who told you this motorcade was called for you?"
"Stop flattering yourself, will you?"
Before their stunned, disbelieving eyes, the bodyguards swiftly entered their vehicles, and the luxury convoy glided smoothly into the rain.
That's everything available right now.
