3 "Marco, please save my mother-in-law!"

When I found Marco, he was lounging on the sofa.

"Oh, if it isn't the pure and innocent Mrs. White. What brings you here today?"

I heard the sarcasm in his voice, but I ignored it,

"Marco, my mother-in-law has been kidnapped! Please, send some men with me to save her. It's urgent."

But he gave me a playful look, examining my disheveled appearance from head to toe,

"Mrs. White, usually you're so cold and aloof, you wouldn't even look at someone like me. Why are you suddenly so humble?"

"And what's with this outfit, Mrs. White? Are you trying to seduce me?"

I instinctively hugged myself, remembering the time he tried to get handsy and I slapped him. Apparently he still held a grudge.

"Marco, I'm sorry. I was immature. Please forgive me this once."

Saving my mother-in-law was more important than anything else, and I didn't care about anything else right now.

But Marco showed no signs of forgiving me. He smirked,

"Is that all? I don't see any sincerity."

With no other choice, I slapped myself twice, begging him respectfully,

"Marco, I was wrong to hit you. I'm slapping myself now to apologize. Please, send some men to save my mother-in-law. She's an old woman, she can't handle it much longer."

The man looked at me, eyes gleaming. He pinched my chin, lifting my reddened face,

"If you'd come sooner, maybe I would have believed you. This pitiful look…it's quite endearing."

"But you don't know, do you? Ethan called me just now, said you were in cahoots with the kidnappers, trying to kill Tiffany. She's my favorite woman, how could I help you hurt her?"

"And you, this dirty woman, have been making trouble for Tiffany time and again. Let's see how I'll deal with you."

Apparently, Ethan knew I was coming to see Marco, and had already contacted him.

Ignoring my eight-month-old baby, I knelt on the ground and begged,

"No, it's not true. I'll explain later. My mother-in-law is really kidnapped! She's in danger! Please, I beg you."

Marco showed a hint of hesitation.

Just then, the phone rang. My sister-in-law's heart-wrenching voice echoed through the phone,

"Sis, they broke Mom's leg! They said if they don't see him in an hour, they'll break her arms, then kill her!"

"Sis, what do we do? Did Marco agree to help?"

Marco spoke abruptly,

"I'm willing to help, but…"

I looked at him excitedly, thinking he finally believed me, but he pointed to the liquor on the table.

"Evelyn, drink these bottles, and I'll send people to save your mother-in-law."

My blood ran cold, I clenched my fists and nodded.

"Okay! You're on!"

My mother-in-law treated me like her own daughter. For her, I'd do anything.

I forced myself to drink the liquor.

My stomach burned, and I felt nauseous.

Marco watched me mockingly, "As expected of you, Evelyn. Even pregnant, you can drink. If you'd just come to me earlier…"

Before he finished, I vomited, collapsing on the floor.

A warm stream flowed between my legs, a sharp pain tore through my abdomen.

"What's wrong? You can't even handle that? You've only had one bottle. You're not done yet. Aren't you close to your mother-in-law? Why don't you save her?"

Marco's mocking words echoed, I struggled to stand, but saw him on a video call with Ethan White, the camera pointed at me.

In the video, Tiffany snuggled in Ethan's arms, playing with her dog, she feigned coyness,

"Marco, this is the birthday surprise you talked about? I love it."

Ethan looked at me with disdain, "Evelyn, you'll do anything for this show. Have you forgotten what happened last time? You dare to try again. Do you need to lose your child to learn your lesson?"

"I'm not acting!"

Then, I felt my abdomen sink, something was leaving my body. Blood gushed from between my legs.

I suddenly realized, the alcohol was laced with abortion medication.
