A few days later, I was finally discharged and dragged myself home, only to find our bedroom sheets completely rumpled.

Walking into the living room, I saw Austin yawning as he stepped out of his mother's bedroom.

Brenda was cradling her rounded belly, clinging tightly to Austin's arm.

"Son-Hubby, please stay and cuddle with me a little longer."

They looked up and froze when they saw me standing there.

Austin looked flustered and quickly pulled his hand away from hers.

"Fallon, you're back."

Before we got married, I almost broke up with Austin because he was such a hopeless mama's boy.

He had to report every meal to his mother, handed over his entire paycheck to her, and even let her hand-wash his underwear.

To prove his devotion to me, Austin knelt outside my dorm in the pouring rain for three full days.

Everyone around me pleaded on his behalf, so I finally gave in and agreed to marry him.

To my horror, Brenda showed up at our wedding in a bridal gown of her own, bragging to every guest.

"My boy is taking two brides today! I'm the head wife, and she's just the little mistress!"

Austin and I had had a massive blowout over that.

In the past, catching them sleeping in the same bed would have driven me to tear the house down.

Instead, I gave them a sweet smile.

"You two are so close. It almost makes me jealous."

Austin stared in disbelief and moved to explain, but Brenda threw her arms around him.

"Son-Hubby, that little vixen is just envious of our bond. Ignore her!"

My abdomen throbbed with dull pain.

I retreated to the bedroom and checked my phone, noticing several missed calls from Gideon.

If only I had listened to Gideon's warnings back then, I wouldn't be trapped in this nightmare.
