The day I discovered Madeline was terminally ill, I nearly died to secure a Life-Sharing Pact.

I fought through hell to return to the human world for her.

But when I arrived, a blonde boy was standing by her side.

He stole my fame and called me an ugly monster.

He locked me in a cage and cut off my tail, the source of my Incubus power.

Madeline just laughed, kissing his lips while looking at me with pure disgust.

"A monster who once abandoned me still wants my love? In your dreams!" she sneered.

Their bodies tangled together in front of me.

I spat out a mouthful of blood but didn't tell her the truth.

The pact only works if there is one hundred percent mutual love.

And now, her time was running out.

I dragged my shattered body back to the mortal realm.

It happened to be the opening ceremony for Madeline's new film.

I no longer had a place by her side.

A young blonde man stood where I used to be.

"Ms. Pierce, there are rumors about you and Mr. Sterling. How do you explain this?"

The reporters below the stage craned their necks, hungry for a scoop.

Madeline smiled and suddenly kissed the man beside her in front of everyone.

"This is the explanation. Silas Sterling is my fiancé."

The crowd erupted in a frenzy.

The wound where I had just drained my heart's blood throbbed painfully.

I could barely stand.

Before I left, this woman had clung to my arms, wearing the engagement ring I gave her.

Now, she was flaunting her love for someone else?

I coughed up blood, unable to support myself as I fell forward.

The crowd grew restless, and a reporter immediately recognized me.

"Is that the A-list star, Kendrick Hale? Isn't he Ms. Pierce's fiancé?"

"The fireworks proposal he did for her was the most romantic thing in the city!"

I lifted my eyes toward the stage.

A flash of surprise crossed Madeline's eyes, followed by deep indifference.

"Help... me," I whispered, reaching out a trembling hand.

Madeline slowly walked down the stage and stopped in front of me.

She looked down as if she had made a major decision.

"Why did you leave without a word?" she asked coldly.

"I hate being abandoned more than anything in this world."

I opened my mouth to speak, but the pact's silence curse choked me.

Disappointment clouded Madeline's eyes. She didn't hesitate.

She pulled out the silver dagger I had once gifted her.

Then, she plunged it straight into my heart.

She twisted the blade, carving through my flesh.

My wound healed instantly, but the agony only spread.

The crowd screamed in terror as they watched my flesh knit back together.

Madeline slapped my face with the flat of the blade.

"Kendrick Hale... is a monster!" she announced to the world.

I crawled at her feet, begging in a low, broken voice.

"You promised not to tell... I won't survive if you do..."

A sudden kick sent me flying back.

The blonde boy hid weakly in Madeline's arms.

"Ms. Pierce, it must have been so hard for you, living with such a disgusting creature."

I watched Madeline cover his eyes, whispering sweet comforts to him.

As my blood turned cold, I closed my eyes in total powerlessness.

Despair filled my heart.

Madeline, if you knew I left just to save your life...
