It was awkward on the way back to school.

I could feel Kael watching me, carefully trying to read my face.

So, I decided to break the silence.

"Why is it so hard to break a Succubus contract?"

"Want to know?" He raised an eyebrow, and when I looked interested, he leaned down. "Ears closer."

I pulled my long rabbit ears up to his mouth.

"Go on, I'm listening."

Kael laughed.

He pulled down his mask and bit the end of my ear.

Like a human having their earlobe bitten.

I shivered, my voice trembling.

"L-let go of my ear!"

Kael let go, and spat. "Hairs."

I glared at him. "No way! I have a balanced diet…"

Before I could finish, Kael grabbed me, pulling me into his arms and kissing me.

I was stunned, but just as I was starting to get into it, he pulled back, tapping my lips.

He was grinning.

"See? Rabbit hairs."

I wiped my mouth, retorting, "You're lying! I'm not playing with you!"

I turned and ran.

As a rabbit, I was pretty confident about my running skills.

But Kael caught me in seconds.

"Fast for a little bunny."

I turned to punch him, but my arms were too short.

I sighed.

Kael pulled me close.

"Here, try now."

I looked up, stumbling into his dark eyes.

I looked away.

"Not going to hit me?"

"No…"

Kael walked me to my dorm.

Before we split up, I looked at his mask. "Why do you always wear a mask?"

Kael shrugged. "Afraid of being too hot."

I rolled my eyes.

"You're nothing like the brooding guy everyone thinks you are."

"Brooding? That's what they think of me? I just don't like talking to people," he paused. "Except you."

I blinked, lost for words.

He noticed my confusion, but didn't tease me.

"If you get an attack, call me. I'll be there."

I nodded. "If you ever need me, I'll be there for you too!"

"Need you?" He repeated the words, laughing a little. "See you later."

I waved, then turned towards the stairs.

He was a Succubus.

If he needed me…

I didn't want to think about it.

What had I just said?!

I spent two days hiding from Kael.

Until I couldn't avoid a class on Friday afternoon.

He saved me a seat.

I sat down next to him.

My three roommates were giving me the finger.

The group chat was a mess, and I wanted to join in.

[Wait, are you dating Kael?!]

[What does he even look like?]

[I heard Succubi have tattoos. Bailey, have you seen them?]

[Is he… good?]

[?!]

I was a red rabbit. I threw my phone on the table, covering my eyes with my ears, trying to calm down.

I forgot to turn the screen off.

Kael noticed, and turned, looking right at the messages.

He coughed, trying not to laugh.

"Your phone's not off."

I wanted to die.

I turned off the screen and tried to hide.
