Chloe POV:

We drove in silence for six minutes, leaving the suburban sprawl behind and crossing into the city's private financial core.

Walter steered the truck down an unmarked subterranean ramp beneath a commercial skyscraper, coming to a halt before two colossal, reinforced titanium blast gates. A laser array scanned the windshield, flashing a brilliant green. The massive gates rolled open without making a single sound.

Inside, the subterranean vault was vast, brilliantly illuminated by surgical-grade white LED panels, and lined with high-end exotic supercars.

Parked dead in the center under a dedicated spotlight was a brand-new, midnight-black Rolls-Royce Phantom. Its obsidian paint gleamed like polished black glass, and the solid platinum crest mounted above the grille radiated untouchable sovereignty. Beside the limousine stood an escort team of four armored, blacked-out security SUVs, their engines humming in low synchronization.

Walter cut the truck's engine. "We are switching vehicles, Miss Chloe."

I stepped out onto the mirror-finish epoxy floor, looking at the convoy. "Why the rusted truck, Walter?"

Walter smiled warmly, turning to face me. "Your biological family is one of the most formidable industrial dynasties on the continent. Corporate espionage rings and political vultures monitor their every step. We utilized the rusted decoy to ensure no one tracked our route when retrieving you from that neighborhood."

Walter transferred my worn duffel bags into the plush trunk of the Rolls-Royce, then pulled open the heavy rear coach door for me.

I sank into the butter-soft leather. The door closed with a vault-like, soundproof thud, instantly sealing me off from the outside world.

"Walter," I said, leaning forward slightly. "Who are my parents?"

Walter looked back through the partition mirror. His eyes were shining with fierce, emotional pride. "Your father is Charles Kensington. Your mother is Eleanor Kensington. They lead the Kensington Industrial Syndicate, and your father holds majority ownership of the New York Monarchs franchise."

The air completely left my lungs.

Charles Kensington. The reclusive global titan whose name was engraved into aerospace corridors, industrial shipping lanes, and corporate towers across three continents. Robert Tucker had spent five desperate years just begging for an introductory handshake with his lowest-tier regional logistics director.

"Then... why was I stolen?" I whispered, my fingers sinking into the leather. "Did they... give me away?"

"Never harbor that thought, Miss Chloe," Walter's voice dropped, hardening into a quiet, dangerous edge. "Twenty-two years ago, you weren't simply lost. You were taken. A calculated, deliberate cradle-swap orchestrated by Robert Tucker and his criminal associates erased your trail and placed you into their own household to serve as a captive slave while sending their own eldest daughter, Isabelle, into the Kensington family in your place."

Walter paused, his gaze meeting mine in the glass, leaving unspoken weight hanging in the air.

"Your parents discovered the switch when you were three," Walter continued, his voice tight with suppressed fury. "They have spent nineteen years turning this country upside down looking for you. Every archive, every private registry, every closed door—they fought through all of it. This afternoon, our biometric analytics finally flagged your medical licensure file. You are going home, Miss Chloe. And the people responsible... will soon learn what it means to wake a sleeping titan."

A single, hot tear broke free and rolled down my cheek.

I had never been an unwanted jinx. I had never been a discarded burden. I was a daughter who had been mourned, loved, and fought for across every single heartbeat of my life.

I wiped the tear away, lifted my chin, and let a cold, brilliant fire ignite in my chest.

"Take me to them, Walter."

Walter bowed his head with a proud smile. "Right away, Miss Kensington."
