Chapter 2 HE WANTED TO KILL ME.

CHAPTER 2: HE WANTED TO KILL ME. Damon jolted in fear, when the door was banged open. Vanessa's rushed to him and kicked him fiercely. "I have been downstairs, waiting for you for over thirty minutes, you fool." She snarled loudly. Damon's eyes widened, he had been sitting here and reminiscing about the past for thirty minutes.

Vanessa had told him to come down in two minutes, he wondered what she would do to him now. He tried to stand up, but his head felt heavy, he was dizzy and he fell back to the ground. "Stand up, swine." Vanessa shouted, seeing that he wasn't standing up.

His family had arrived already, and she still had a lot to prepare. "I can't." Damon replied with a weak voice, he had a bad headache, due to the huge, open and red bump on his head. He had stopped bleeding, but it was still very painful and also swollen.

"Oh, you can't? Then I will help you." Vanessa said wickedly, and proceeded to lift his left leg, holding unto it tightly, she dragged him on the floor, towards the door. Damon was astonished at what she was doing, but he couldn't summon up strength to take back his leg.

He hadn't eaten for a whole day, he was constantly starved by his wife, he had also bled a while ago, he felt helpless. Vanessa continued to drag him on the floor, she dragged him down the stairs, across the hallway, and the living room, where his family was seated.

She didn't even think of giving him face. Damon's foster family saw what was going on, but they turned a blind eye, they had finally gotten rid of him, they wouldn't be here today, if not because of their son, Vintage. Vanessa's parents, watched wide eyed, as Vanessa dragged Damon.

They felt fear, thinking that Damon's foster parents were going to protest against them, but they didn't receive any words of protest towards what was happening. If they had protested, and attempted to take their son back, they didn't have the money to pay their debt, the money was huge.

They had married off their daughter, due to the huge amount of debt they owed the Shawn family, and their foster son, still had to live with them. Were they marrying off their daughter or was Damon married off to them? They looked at Vintage who was sitting, highly proud.

Vintage was beside the Shawn couple and couldn't help but fill bitter in their hearts. 'Why had their daughter married that fool?' They were glad that the Shawn couple, weren't concerned about Damon, if it was that way, they could get rid of him, after a few months or weeks.

Their daughter deserved someone better, like Vintage. "What brings you here?" Mr Morgan, Vanessa's father, turned towards Mr Shawn, trying to act amiable.

Mr Shawn cleared his throat, "Vintage is attending the University close by, as a graduate student." Mr Shawn, paused, trying to gauge their reaction. He saw that there was no change in their expression and they were waiting for him to continue, "He would like to stay here, since it's closer."

He forced words out of his mouth. He didn't support Vintage staying here, he could easily rent an apartment but Vintage had insisted. Mr Morgan's eyes widened, he was furious in his heart. It wasn't enough that Damon was staying under his roof, he still had to take in Vintage?

But he couldn't voice out his concerns, instead he put on an amiable smile, "Of course, he can. He is always welcome." Mr Morgan hurriedly replied. Vintage looked at him and smiled wickedly, he knew that he wasn't so generous, "Don't worry, Mr. Morgan, you won't regret taking me in."

He said with a knowing smile. He could easily get an apartment, because he was doing well for himself now, he had a job in Sandro Corps, a job a lot of people would die for. He was futhering his education, because he wanted a promotion, for a pay raise.

He couldn't bribe his way to promotion, in Sandro Corps, due to it's strict regulations. He had seen Vanessa's once, during the small wedding ceremony that was organized for the new couple, and he was envious of his foster brother. Vanessa was naturally beautiful and take her away from Damon.

Mr Morgan, looked at Vintage and felt he was up to something good, 'Maybe taking in him, wouldn't be bad.' He thought to himself. He turned to his wife, whose face was scrunched up, "Go check on Vanessa." He ordered. Mrs Morgan stood up grudgingly, and walked to the kitchen.

She didn't like the idea of Vintage staying here. They had to feed Damon, and now they still had to feed Vintage. She halted in her steps, when she heard what Vintage said.

"I'm giving you $10,000. Just use it for anything." Vintage declared proudly, he looked up to see Mrs Morgan, walking towards him. She clasped his hands and thanked him gratifyingly. He relished in the attention he was getting from them, something Damon couldn't get. Vintage patted her hands, slightly disgusted.

Mrs Morgan happily walked towards the kitchen and exchanged a glance with her husband, $10,000 dollars was a lot. She ignored the blackened faces of the Shawn couple, they were not happy, that their son would give out that much money, but they couldn't say anything, it was Vintage's choice.

Mrs Morgan walked into the kitchen, and was shocked at the sight she saw. Vanessa was dipping Damon's head, forcefully, into a big bowl of water. He couldn't breath and he was struggling to be free, but Vanessa had a tight grip on him. Mrs. Morgan, rushed to her daughter.

"What are you doing?" She said in a low voice, not wanting to shout, so as not to raise any suspicion from Damon's parents. Vanessa released her grip on Damon and he fell with a loud thud. His face was red and he struggled to breath, taking in oxygen greedily.

"He wanted to kill me." Vanessa lied with a straight face. She told him to cut carrots and onions but he was just shaking and he couldn't do anything. Out of anger, she dipped his head in a bowl filled with water. She wanted to gratify his offense and punishment.

Mrs Morgan's face turned red from anger. She rushed towards the kitchen sink and took the bowl, filled with water. She angrily poured it on Damon, the water was chillingly cold. It was cold in New York, the cold water made him shiver uncontrollably, he was only wearing thin pyjamas.

Damon shivered uncontrollably, strength was continually seeping out from his body, he wanted to talk, he wanted to defend himself, but he couldn't form to right words. He remembered he was in this marriage because his foster parents had asked him to pay them back for sending him to college.

"Get out." Mrs Morgan snarled at him, kicking him in the belly. She couldn't believe that he is a 25 year old man, he had no backbone and the sight of him disgusts her. Damon crawled on the floor, with his wet body and clothes, supporting himself, with the wall.

Walking slowly and timidly, out of the kitchen. His clothes, dripping with water unto the ground. Water trailed behind him, his black hair clung to his head and he looked like a foolish clown. He walked into the living room, he saw his foster parents, excitedly chatting with Mr Morgan.

Somewhere in his heart, he yearned for their care, he had grown to love them. He longed for them to ask him why he was wet, he longed for them to ask him why he had a bump on his head, to ask him why he couldn't treat his wound.

He turned to the side to see his foster brother, looking back at him, waving, with a wicked smile, that smile sent shivers down his spine. Damon had always seen his foster brother as his closest friend, until that day he brought his excellent result home, everything started to change.

His foster brother would do everything and anything to take what he had. Vintage schemed and lied against him, making Damon's friends in school, leave him and he was left all alone. Damon looked back, hopefully, at his foster parents, and they only looked at him with scorn and hatred.

He waited for them to talk to him, but they looked away. He looked towards his father-in-law, but he only looked back at him with pity and something else in his eyes - disgust? Damon hung his head low and walked towards the room he shared with his wife, Vanessa.

Mr Morgan looked at the retreating back of his son-in-law, he decision to get rid of him later on, strengthened. He had observed the Shawn family's treatment towards Damon, and he knew they didn't care about him, one bit. He turned around to continue his chat with the Shawn couple.
